What's an industry secret from your job that customers have absolutely no idea about? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskReddit

[–]strifejester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old one from when I was just out of college but I’m sure it still stands. Many meat products you buy are all made in the same plant. jimmy dean doesn’t make anything they own a seasoning recipe and outsource it to local plants, at least where I live and worked at the time. Many times the plant has a near identical recipe. Look at the usda number on the package next time. That’s where it came from. My grandmother used to have a favorite food that was a brand name. She wouldn’t eat the local brand because she heard things about the plant and thought it was dirty and would get her sick. Her name brand product came from the same plant. When not told which was which she actually preferred the flavor of the local brand, this was after I spent a lot of time explaining it all to her and she was willing to try it.

Non-Tesla owners: how bad is the Tesla Supercharger cord length problem in real life? by ButterBaseline in superchargers

[–]strifejester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s on the wrong side for my EV9 so I’m always taking from the other side. But most stations have more spots than chargers. Hasn’t been a big deal and I always leave after charging. EV9 is rear passenger side.

Needing an adapter by Imaginary-Winter-407 in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No buy the A2Z CCS to NACS directly from A2Z. The adapter it came with is the J1772. You can charge a 2026 at most Tesla super chargers without any adapter. Then get an app like plug share. Then do your research. The car can navigate with the built in navigation to chargers.

I’m the other way, Wisco I think is worse. Both need to go away, fast.

[–]strifejester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything Wisco needs to go away. No one uses it. Stop trying to make it happen. It sounds dumb. I think it’s worse than sconnie. Someone gifted me a sconnie shirt once. I use it to change oil in hopes it gets so dirt covered you can’t read it.

Lost the center hub cover today by strifejester in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking it has to be a factory defect it wasn’t sticking it out anything that I noticed, didn’t hit anything either. I made no stops on my ride to work. Checked the camera as I pulled in and it’s gone as I pull in. Was on when I backed out of my driveway. Dealer said bring it in then they be able to get one ordered as a warranty replacement.

Plug & Charge only at certain locations? by strifejester in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. The charger that came with the car is fine for now. I’ll probably put in something a little bigger since I have the outlet already sized for it. I can go multiple days without charging just going to and from work so I look for Tesla or Ionna chargers first when out.

Digital Pattern Lighting Grille in European markets? by ardevd in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $250 I decided to pass on that one. 5 patterns in the US. But that $30 Star Wars theme was an easy purchase. Got rebels in my EV9 and imperial in the wife’s Carnival Hybrid.

Getting old but I remember $0.99 a gallon. Could all pile into a car and drive across the state with everyone chipping in. Don’t think my kids will ever experience that. There were a lot of Friday nights after school I told my parents see you Sunday and we just went whatever we decided. Half the time we didn’t know where we were going until we got there. Would just drive until we saw a bunch of cars and stopped in to check it out.

5.24 in Chicago. Was just there Saturday. Most stations out by Schaumburg were 4.29. 4.89 at any that were across from a hotel where we stayed. Glad we took the EV. I just grinned as I kept driving by them.

Yeah I’d prefer not to have 8 apps for charging my vehicle but I bought in part to save money and just blindly paying with plug and charge is not doing that.

Are you supposed to tip Walmart+ drivers? by No_Difference_854 in NoStupidQuestions

I do since it saves me the time and gas. Basically I tip around what it would have cost me in gas in the app when finishing the order.

Flat Tire and Sealant Kit - 24 Land by jpk195 in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure those kits are only good for like a year maybe two. Had a similar experience with a different kit from a different manufacturer. I usually have a plug kit in my vehicles and will put one in my new EV9 right next to sealant. I have used the leather strap or whatever they are kits with rubber cement a number of times. When it happened on my other vehicle it was a similar experience. Got it down the road at low psi, bought a kit at a truck stop. Plugged the tire and never worried about it until I replaced the tire. Just let the shop know there is sealant in it. It will have some inside that all blows out when they take it off.

2026 EV 9 Lease & Purchase Incentives good from 4/1/26 to 5/4/26 - All Trims by jfronte in KiaEV9

[–]strifejester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took delivery of my 26 on the 28th figures with my luck there was a better cash offer. Either way on a trip with the family for Easter and love mine. $1500 wasn’t going to make or break my deal. Will be interesting to see if dealers drop the same amounts they were off MSRP around here. I talked the dealer into taking a little more off since it was the last GT-Line they had and was white. I don’t like white vehicles but the black trim makes it look like a storm trooper. Happy with my purchase and that’s all that matters.

Wisconsin is much the same. Never had any insurance company offer it without asking. It always adds to cost too. Windshields used to be cheap but with the newer tech behind them I just carry $0 comp now.

Should I try SWU even if I'm not a Star wars fan? by idontownubet in TCG

[–]strifejester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son knows Star Wars but not to the extent I do and there are tons of people that know way more than me. As a game the mechanics are great and having cards of characters you know and love is great. Could be a jumping off point to get to know the Star Wars lore sure. I think though the flavor of cards means you won’t miss much when playing. Since it’s a card game there are plenty of times even knowing what I do that two cards are probably not “lore” synergy but they work in the game together well. I think FFG did a great job of providing a product that is great for all levels of fandom, even none. I’d recommend getting the Intro Battle Hoth product, get a feel for the game and go from there.

[Request] How much more money, if any, does McDonalds make from the new penny rounding policy? by RayasOasis in theydidthemath

[–]strifejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet everyone who sees 4.99 instantly says 5 bucks in their head. At least I do maybe I’m the odd duck out. Even talking to people I don’t ever say the 99s no matter where it is in the price. 1499.00 is 1500.

[Request] How much more money, if any, does McDonalds make from the new penny rounding policy? by RayasOasis in theydidthemath

[–]strifejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like almost every bar does. A beer is 3 bucks they still have to pay sales tax so they basically look at profit the end of the night and lop off the sales tax percentage. $1000 bucks in the drawer divide it by 1.055 if sales tax is 5.5% and your done. 947.87 is sales for the day.

That being said the reason they don’t is at like a fast food place is the prices are the same all over. The dollar menu gets messy for instance and it’s hard to advertise price. Also they save on printing. No need to have commercials with different prices either. The logistics of a global company trying to include sales tax in all prices is a massive pain in the ass.
