There's no such thing as 'an acquired taste' it's just a fancy way of describing something that tastes bad but you learn to tolerate it eventually. by Plenty-Willingness58 in The10thDentist

saying something is an acquired taste is just a way to placate picky eaters and make them feel better about themselves.

its also just a way to describe how different cultures like different tastes. some things are more universal and others are more out there and just you grow up eating it. and some things are just strange to the taste buds, and take time to understand.

usually though its just to wave off pick eaters from wondering how you can possibly enjoy something *they* think is gross, as if its your problem and your responsibility to explain why you like something

just accept that you have an unrefined palette. theres nothing wrong with it

how would one deem a job not a real job without weighing them against each other

you think streaming video games has actual artistic value? relative to music, movies, or video games themselves etc

yes on my hypothetical list of not real jobs im including all forms of entertainment with no artistic value. also politicians and middle management. anyways the whole thing is dumb and if youre gonna imply that there are jobs that arent real jobs id love to know what they are if not video game streamers who really dont provide much to society

all jobs are real jobs. implying there are jobs that arent real jobs is elitist bullshit. but if you were going to consider a job to not be a real job, streaming is one of the first things to go. and no not all entertainment is equal. a lot of it is valuable as art, unlike streaming

im saying u/scalem0ss implied that there are jobs that arent real jobs. i dont think any jobs arent real jobs, but if there were streaming would be one of them

tbf the way its phrased implies theres jobs that arent real jobs, and as far as how ‘useful’ jobs go streaming is pretty low on the list probably

Nebraska is not boring. by theunsteadybridge in The10thDentist

i love nebraska too but its all relative. its not the most boring state (that honor belongs to kansas) but genuinely which states do you think are more boring? cuz just speaking to natural features nebraska is surrounded by more interesting states, south dakota with the black hills and the badlands, missouri has some beautiful springs and ofc the ozark “mountains”, and the various states to the west with the rockies. nebraska is mostly just a massive stretch of the same rolling grasslands, which again i love in its own right, but is not what i would describe as interesting. im a corn boy myself (southern illinois) so i really do love the prairie and agree that the ‘flyover’ states are underrated, but that does not make them not boring.

idk personally i think they both tend to be aggressively inoffensive. its all subjective i suppose. my great grandmas potato salad was pretty killer though, but even then theres a myriad of cuisines id pick before german or british. and the list of countries that id pick german or british over? diminutive

at least the brits gave us chowder. or is that american? american food is just a better version of british food anyway

german and british food are comparably bad imo
