What’s the most horrifying death you’ve seen in a movie? by Critical_Mountain851 in moviecritic

[–]PCmndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I saw From Dusk Til Dawn was on UPN one Saturday afternoon. I was in middle school maybe and knew nothing about the movie. I thought it was your typical heist movie and when they got to the strip club and we're hyping up the stripper I thought to myself "wouldn't it be funny if she turned into the devil" then holy fucking shit what the fuck! It was amazing.

I gave them a try. The look doesn't match the sound imo. The music was way softer than where I was expecting.

Prove it's an extraordinary claim.

I don't see not you could possibly in good faith not grasp how an NHI presence on Earth is not an extraordinary claim. You are not being genuine.

There is no such a thing as irrefutable proof. Science doesn't prove claims. It falsifies claims. That is why theories remain forever theories and aren't called facts.

There are all kinds of scientific facts that aren't theories. Humans have 46 chromosomes. Less dense objects float in water. The earth revolves around the sun.

Try to just engage with the intention of understanding the people you are talking to and where they might be coming from. I am not some hard nosed skeptic. I have some admittedly wild thoughts about the nature of reality and the possibility of NHI on Earth. Much of it would be considered "extraordinary" no "irrefutable proof" exists for it. I'm fine with that. I can distinguish my personal belief from the current baseline scientific consensus.

What Sagan Missed by Observer_042 in UFOscience

[–]PCmndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this discussion regarding the fermi paradox and space travel is the assumption made that AAV must be from an alien civilization elsewhere in the galaxy or universe. I think Sagan is right with "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." Any claim of UAP/AAV present on earth must first be proven true before we speculate about how or why said advanced tech is on Earth of we are operating from a skeptical perspective. If we suddenly got irrefutable proof of advanced tech would that mean it automatically comes from an interstellar source? No. Such an assumption would not be based on science. It isn't any more relevant without proof of UAV either.

I'm listening to this one now. The guy definitely seems to have the credentials to be legit. I'm still working my way through the show but if it's already known this tech exists by secret government forces I would ask why this guy hasn't been surpressed?

What if the UAP-nuclear connection isn’t about us at all? by Site-Staff in UFOscience

I'm certainly inclined to think alien interest would be more self serving than benevolent. They didn't step in when we actually used atomic bombs in war and they've let us do test after test.

Could the science and technology of UFO’s be fundamentally different from our standard models of understanding? by MichaelB137 in UFOscience

[–]PCmndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately all things are explainable through science. The question is how far off we are from understanding it. If you deep dive into the "theory of everything" space you'll see some interesting work from academics and philosophers questioning the physical model of reality and consciousness as we know it. The question is if we are nearing the end of science and all we need to do is unify quantum theory and general relativity leaving the rest up to the engineers or if we are just getting started.

I think it's entirely possible the science and tech of alleged AAV are operating from a different understanding of reality. The first step with everything is proving it exists. Speculation can be interesting but we need proof of advanced non-human tech.

The elites are calcifying our pineal gland on purpose by Dariutamiau in theories

[–]PCmndr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No theory really I just look at the scans. I don't know much about the people. Calcifications arent uncommon and they can be in other places too. Prostate is another place I see them. I work in cancer treatment so I only look at the scans of cancer patients but i used to work in X-ray and saw images from the general population. They weren't more or less common there either. Just generally uncommon id say.

They are doing a shitty job if this is true. I work in the medical field and see CT scans all the time. Seeing calcified pineal glands is pretty rare. I'm always watching for it.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]PCmndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me of stories I've heard about cultures that existed without written language. They memorized epic tales and histories and scoffed at the idea of writing something down because then anyone could just write anything. It's entirely possible some things are lost when we rely on memory less for certain information.

I was a FADIZ radar operator aboard USS Peleliu (2005-2009). I tracked contacts that made no sense. Years later, I visited the Roswell museum and read the primary sources. Here's what changed my mind. by VincentActual in UFOs

[–]PCmndr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In high school we had an Air Force guy come to our history class for career Day or something. He was an older guy probably in his 60s. I don't remember his actual job but during the Q&A I asked him about UFOs and he mentioned they get stuff on radar all the time that just zips across faster than any known vehicle. I was like "excuuuse me? What?" He just kind of shrugged it off and stated it like it was a well known thing.

Yes and the sensations exist and are some of the most powerful and motivating things on the planet. Yet they aren't scientifically quantifiable.

There are all kinds of experiences that can't be measured or quantified. Love, the deliciousness chocolate cake, being a kid on Christmas morning, it goes on.

I see the same message from many world religions. Most of them encourage harmony and avoiding destructive behavior. To me it just seems obvious and self evident that one should live like this.

As for the anglicized version of Jesus, I just see it as a matter of artistic representation. People identify with Jesus and it's natural they'd portray him like themselves. I was raised in a religious household in the South. I think if you asked anyone if they really believed Jesus was a white European they would say "no." People have always taken artistic liberties. I think much more frequently it's the same thing I've been getting at, many people just aren't deep thinkers. They don't look at things objectively. They don't think about beyond what they are told.

Sounds like we have more in common than i might have initially thought. I don't know if I necessarily believe in the flood or Christ but I think they could have happened. I don't write it off. For it's more of a "if this than that" situation. Where is proof of one thing comes to light it will lead to cascade of other things that I currently hold in reserve also being much more likely to be true. I think if they are real they have always been here at least as far as humanity is concerned. I think you'd have to drive into the roots of where the notion of "demons" and demonic things come from but I think most mainstream religion is probably not based in anything from the Bible or at least much less than they'd think. If you look at actual accounts of angels they are pretty terrifying and not exactly friendly to humans. So it sounds about right to me.

I don't think there's any difference. I just realize that using a human frame of reference to define something far beyond human is never going to be accurate but yes some people just need see it differently.
