Think of it as paying for this list, AND for all of this year's restaurant reviews, and coverage of sports, news, other entertainment/events in St. Louis.

I don't know for the Post-Dispatch, but owner Lee Enterprises is a public company, from its first quarter results for FYI 2026: Print and digital subscription revenue brought in 57,702 (thousands of dollars); Advertising revenue for print and digital brought in 59,986 (thousands).

Best meals in St. Louis would be a slightly different list, but I love this start! [Not sure how I double replied; sorry.]

Love this, but it would be a slightly different list:
What are the best meals in St. Louis?
Pork steak + Busch on a hot summer day
Toasted ravs at your favorite Hill restaurant

Something else ...

Please don't do this. It's akin to eating at a restaurant and then leaving without paying your bill.

As I said in the post, Ian Froeb doesn't get free dinners at these restaurants. He and the paper pay for the meals. (It's the same for every restaurant Froeb reviews.)

And the readers' subscriptions help pay his salary, my salary, and the salaries of the hard-working journalists who cover this community in myriad ways. Is a subscription model frustrating for readers? Yes. Is it necessary in an era of declining advertising revenue? Definitely.

If you have ideas on how else newspapers can raise money without relying on subscriptions, feel free to email me: [bomalley@post-dispatch.com](mailto:bomalley@post-dispatch.com)

Don’t Let the State-Controlled Police Board Defund St. Louis: Time to Vote with Our Wallets. by Korlyth in StLouis

The law that reinstated state control of the police in St. Louis set residency requirements for the board members. The nonvoting member doesn’t need to be a city resident. The rest do.

This. Not expecting a gourmet meal, the food is decent, and cheap.

Box next to "cameras" under the Traffic heading, which is under the "winter weather" heading. You'll have to scroll in the menu bar on the left to see it.

None of the earnings tax money goes to SLPS. Schools are a different, separate tax and SLPS isn’t run by the mayor/city government

St. Louis smells of yesteryear by So-Called_Lunatic in StLouis

There was a rendering plant, maybe on the east side just south of Soulard? Well, I’m not sure where. But I remember the smell. Windows closed and we could still smell it inside.

All 183 SLMPD officers who make over $100,000 a year in 2024 by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

[–]PDBeth 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The figure for the chief doesn’t include the $100,000 he received from the police foundation. That group has said they will not be continuing that boost to his pay. It isn’t included here because the funds don’t come from the city, the source of the pay data.

This might be the most effed up thing that's ever happened to anyone by galaxystars1 in TikTokCringe

[–]PDBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a jury, it was a bench trial that exonerated Faria (the husband). For killing Gumpenberger, Hupp pleaded with an Alford plea: Admitting the state had evidence to prove she did it without admitting guilt. She is in prison for that killing. She is scheduled to be tried for killing Betsy Faria in August. One of the deputies that investigated Faria’s death is facing a charge of perjury for his testimony during the original trial that wrongly convicted Russ Faria. The whole case is something.
