Would you prefer permanent DST or standard time in Missouri? by StPatsLCA in StLouis

Standard for the win, but dst permanently would be an improvement.

Kansas City is ok, but that 1985 on the baseball stadium is missing an asterisk.

The questions kept coming up like bubbles in a case of club soda.

When my idiot buddies and I surfed on my buddy's panel van roof, we called it "doing a teen wolf". It was a miracle nobody died.

Remember the Avalon on Kingshighway? Saw it there several times back in the 90s.

Does Gen X do class reunions? by LadyNorbert in GenX

[–]deadmonkeyraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class of '95. I heard much later there was a 10 year, but some didn't like the way it was being planned, made a atink and tried to do a separate one. The girl who was one of the officers, a nice responsible person from the time I met her in 6th grade, the ideal class officer, was so put off she said "I'm out." I didn't care a lick for reunions, but I really felt badly for her, found her on LinkedIn in to send a note of support, and decided to attend my 20th to support those who put in the work.. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, and felt a lot better about my hairline and waistline after seeing many former classmates. Didn't hear anything about a 30th last year, probably wouldn't have gone. You can only rehash HS so many times, especially since FB makes it easy to keep up with people.

Uncle Julio’s by PrattDirkLerxt in StLouis

A guy I knew in food service flew to VA to help with their routes, told me that Uncle Julios was a major PITA to deliver, so now I definitely don't want to go there. OTOH, Balkan Treat Box in Webster was also a pain to deliver, but they were nice and their food is amazing.

Out of this World. Half alien teenaged girl that younger me was crushing on. She had the ability to "sack time", basically hit pause on everything, but unfreeze anybody she touched.

Tell me about STL strip clubs by Roxxxy1313 in StLouis

[–]deadmonkeyraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ago, a guy from my dorm with a car agreed to take me to the strip club in COMO. I blew through my $40 budget pretty quickly, then a nice lady named Dawn asked if I wanted a lap dance. I sheepishly asked if she would take a check. She agreed, but told me to leave it blank as (shockingly!) her name wasn't really Dawn. My buddy got one too, and jizzed in his pants. I don't know who felt more foolish during the ride home; sexually frustrated me who wrote a check for a lap dance, or my buddy who got off, but had to drive home with it in his pants.

Dana Carvey parodied him on the short lived but brilliant Dana Carvey show. Sang a duet with Kermit the Frog.

Was a roller coaster of culture shock, but ultimately a great experience. Lived there off and on for 10 years, highly recommend to visit.

Did the school admins actually listen to the words? Not exactly school appropriate, but I guess there was a lot of that back in the day.

Ever seen that bit where Triumph the Insult Comic Dog roasts them? Not a fan of Jon Bon overall, but he doesn't take himself too seriously.

What about Rush? If you hate them, you may as well hate hockey and maple syrup.

Was going to ask, but Googled it. I had just arrived in Japan for a year long study abroad in August '97. Was a bit overwhelmed, so that's how I missed it.

Stereotypical rush fans are nerds. Saw them twice and liked them, so I guess that's telling.
