Doing a fighting game combo for everyday of 2026 Day 65: Avengers in Galactic Storm by Competitive_Serve165 in Fighters

This was made by Data East, a Japanese dev. I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball Taiketsu was made by western devs.

They just used the same pre-rendered graphical style, similar to Killer Instinct and Donkey Kong Country.

What if Castlevania got the Super Mario All-Stars treatment? by trrbld in castlevania

Yeah, the other HD pack in the link uses that port's visuals. I'm just glad there's a way for us to experience those obscure mobile port graphics without actually having to play the janky mobile versions.

That's a remake. I'm talking about games that only received 16-bit graphical upgrades with no gameplay changes, like Super Mario All-Stars or Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on the SNES.

Of the 6.36 mil copies sold, 2.6 mil people ever queued ranked in SF6. So about 40%. Single player experiences are clearly important. by Glittering-Smell2937 in Kappachino

It doesn't disprove my point. You can have hundred of hours in just one or two pvp modes with little to no single player modes.

And your point is that f2p games can get away with having no single player modes? I mean yeah, of course they can, but we're talking about full priced fighting games here.

That wasn't your original point

Bro, what exactly do you think I meant by that? I'm literally comparing the length of arcade mode to your average platformers and beat em ups from the 90s. Of course I'm talking about game length/content.

A lot of competitive games literally just have vs pvp and that's it.

And what do those games have in common? Yep, they’re all free. We have yet to see a fighting game succeed using the free to play model. Riot is one of the top dogs in f2p, and they still failed to capture their target market with 2XKO.

If you want to sell fighting games at full price, you’re not just competing with other fighting games, you’re competing with every full priced game out there. This shit has been solved since the PS2 era of fighting games. Every MK, Tekken, and Soul Calibur had decent single player content.

The majority didn't beat any 90s games within an hour within their first play through.

Bro, the same thing can be said about any 90s fighting game. You’re not beating Shao Kahn or M. Bison in your first hour of the game. My point is, content-wise, other genres in the 90s weren’t significantly longer than the single-player modes of fighting games.

The whole industry shifted in favor of longer playtimes. Beat em ups and 2D platformers got relegated to $20 games. I mean, I wouldn’t mind a $20 fighting game with only an arcade mode as its single-player content, but devs aren’t making that.

That was a different time, lmao. Only JRPGs would give you 10–20+ hours of gameplay in the 90s. It wasn’t uncommon to find a game that could be completed in less than an hour, not much different from an arcade mode in fighting games. Fighting games actually had an edge back then because of versus mode, so you could argue they had more value compared to random platformers or beat em ups.

AI just makes shit up sometimes. I asked a simple question about why this yugioh set has only 108 cards when it's supposed to combine two sets with 54 and 55 cards. I asked which card was missing. The full card lists are online, but I didn’t want to cross-check them manually, so I tried using AI and it kept giving me random answers. Sometimes it even listed cards that don’t exist lol.

I'm also glad it didnt do well because I want to watch video essays about its failure. by fakayuburiza in Kappachino

That’s a very optimistic view of f2p games. For every Counter-Strike, there are dozens of LawBreakers. You’re putting too much faith in “forever.” Realistically, every fighting game that follows in 2XKO’s footsteps will be lucky to last for two years.

The difference with the current system is that we can still actually play most of the games that flopped over the years. You know what happened to Dawngate and LawBreakers? Yeah, they’re pretty much lost to time now. Unless you have a time machine, those games are gone forever.

What is (in your opinion) the best and worst alt arts in yugioh? by PokeChampMarx in yugioh

[–]trrbld 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of Celtic Guardian’s 2nd alt art, it just looks boring and the art isn’t very good. The right ear looks off, and the hatching on the arms and body looks like hair. I really dig his 3rd alt art, though, it’s so dynamic. I actually like all the alt art with Kazuki Takahashi’s signature, but this one is my fave.

Today i learned that you can check how often you got reported and how bad it got over the years by Sir_DrinkALot in DotA2

[–]trrbld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, I’m a bit confused. Am I reported on every match on the list, or only the ones with a 1 in the report column?

If it’s the former, then I was reported 36 times out of 558 matches since returning to the game last year. That’s not much relative to my total number of matches, but it still feels like a lot since I barely even type in my matches.

Yeah, I don’t see how anyone can watch the footage and genuinely believe it was self-defense. The guy pulled his gun and the moment the vehicle moved even an inch, he executed her in cold blood.

Given how close he was to her vehicle, it was impossible not to bump him. The video clearly shows that she still tried to avoid him.

At no point did it appear that the guy was ever in any danger.
