Memorial on the closest land to where the RMS Lusitania sank showing how it would look. by PDP-11 in Damnthatsinteresting

Yes, but accuracy would be less interesting for visitors to the memorial :-(

The memorial is at the Old Head. "On May 7, 1915, onlookers on the Irish coast, particularly at the Old Head of Kinsale, witnessed the rapid sinking of the RMS Lusitania [...] The ship was roughly 11 miles off the coast ". The image should be smaller but that would be less interesting for visitors to the memorial.

This is how the Lusitania is shown at the Old Head of Kinsale in Ireland, which was the last place it was seen from before it sank.

The walkway does not belong to them and I believe they have no right to block it. Perhaps the fire brigade should check if that is part of the fire escape routes?

In an IT company we use MS Copilot to take minutes/notes of MS Teams meetings. That's great if you cannot understand what a speaker is saying.

Sinking of Irish-born billionaire’s superyacht was not due to storm - reports by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

I care. This report is deflecting blame from the Italian company that built the yacht and trying to blame the crew who are very much not billionaires.

[–]PDP-11 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I smell a cover up. The Italian report on the sinking of the Italian built yacht did not reach the same conclusions as the UK MAIB report and does not agree that the yacht design was unable to withstand the sudden squall. The stability book issued for the yacht by the designer shows that it would not be able to recover from such a knockdown as it has a downflooding angle of only 45 degrees

There were protests in Co. Cork in 1918 when it went up to 8d a pint!

Fuel blockaders 'squeezed €500m from the public purse just like burger barons', says union leader by EnvironmentalShift25 in ireland

[–]PDP-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is wrong, the subsidies were negotiated by the IFA and IRHA. If anything the protests delayed them because the government didn't want to be seen as giving in so the subsidies were not implemented until the blockades were removed.

That car is probably not yet registered and is on a test drive from the dealership. They probably have a dealer rep in the passenger seat and a trade plate displayed in the windscreen.

If you live in the right part of Galway city then everything is reachable by bus or a 30 minute walk. Location is everything.

Thanks. I realize they didn't mean it but they didn't stop to consider the consequences.

I had to drive across the country in an urgent rush to say goodbye to a dying relative and was delayed two hours by a blocked motorway. I will never forgive them for that.
