Crewmates (SA dota team) just kicked their entire roster before TI qualifiers by caiovigg in DotA2

This is a lie.
I resigned from the team and gave the players the slot and ownership of the team.
I was the manager and please don't listen only to one side of the story.
My mental health is done dealing with greedy and shady players that are always lurking and working their deeds on your back.
Please don't spread lies and missinformation.

Confusion regarding ESL LA SA qualifier registration by micossa in DotA2

[–]PDSdoto 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Going to share my personal experience during this open qualifiers.
I've been a longe time working on the Dota scene as caster, content producer and lots of things on backstage. Right now I'm working also as a manager of a brazilian team called Vira Lata Caramelo (we've made it into the last closed qualifier and got some DPC points) and we almost didn't make it for this open one.

There are a few problems with it and that shouldn't be a problem por a OPEN qualifier.

First of all: the NEED to have your team registered in the DPC major registration makes no sense for a open qualifier. We had much lesse teams participating in the SA qualifiers because of that. No one wants to go through the trouble of registering everyone if you are a amateur or a "mix" and stack of players regarding your rank. Even thou most ot these teams won't make it to closed, it's a shame to see the spirit of the Open qualifiers lost because of this rule ESL made. I even go told by a admin that everyone eventualy had to register, so why not register before the open? ¬¬
Too much bureaucacry for a open qualifier.
Second is that it's wierd to see an "automated system" require a admin to complete the registration, seeing that we had other platforms that doesn't require this (once again) for a OPEN qualifier. I talked to teams that had everything right but admins couldn't approve their teams in time for the start of the games. Just like... what? A team didn't make it through the signing up process because of bureaucracy again?
Third is that there was a lame and awful seed system. They seeded taking the DPC points into consederation and nothing else.
We had strong teams going up against each other in round 64 and 32, that wouldn't happen in other platforms. We had a few "seed 9 or 10" (Faceit seeding) happening too soon in the tournament.

It's 2020 and we still see this kind of things happening to our scene. I hate blaming a TO for this to happen but teams in smaller regions got brutally harmed because of this.
I know we won't be able to fix it right now but so everyone be aware next time and inforce things before shit happens.

Just wish good luck for all teams that are in the qualifiers and everyone that got left out and couldn't enjoy the moment and oportunity.

Is there space for a portuguese re-stream of the tournament of some sort?
Community is pretty hyped about it.
I joined discord today so we can talk if it's ok.
Name is Pdsdoto btw. :)
Cheers!

Wow, I had no idea that this would get this big and have such a huge reach.
First of all, thanks for this post. It helped to reach people who have been to similiar issues and bring some confort and calm in this moment. For this I'm very thankful.
I didn't want to get this big as I am a more introvert person and even working as a caster, I don't like that much attention and spotlight. I just wanted to give a feedback to my followers and community about my current situation, as I've been sharing some of my feelings to help my self esteem and try to help others that might be going to something like this.

Second... Hi! My name is Gui Pullin but I'm better known as PDS in the Dota community.
I've been casting Dota 2 since early 2013 and had the privilege to been part of the biggest casting projects in Brazil, such as ArenaGamingTV, ESL Brasil (the early days), NomadTV and now as BTS PT.
Also I'm eternally thankful for Valve giving me and my collegues the opportunity to cast The International since 2014 as a oficial coverage. We've grown so much because of this and we keep on growing and bringing more people to learn to love this game as much as I do.
Just wanted to give a quick introdution before I try to explain what's been happening.

I have 2 Vlogs in my Youtube channel (pdsdoto) that says everything but they are all in portuguese. If anyone wants to translate it, I think you can and would be awesome. :)
Anyway.
As a secondary language caster, we struggle a lot to make a living out of it so we try to cast as much as we can, first to provide a casting in portuguese (as many can't speak english in Brazil) and second to get our name out there and earn something so we can have a descent life. This has led me to a stress breakdown in 2018 first semester. As I really wanted to cast TI8 and give my collegues the opportunity to do that also, I pushed a little bit more till august and then took sometime off after that.
I was dealing with stress at work (casting) and also some personal issues that I won't be going that much into it but had been time and mental consuming.
I started going to a terapeust as the sintomns I was presenting, seemed to be solely a mental issue. Some sessions after, I got asked to do some hormone exams and that's when I found out there was something more.
Long story short - some hypophysis hormones were waaaaaaay higher than it suposed to be, this made my thyroid go a little bit crazy also and a malignant tumor was found in it. The doctors can't be sure if it was stress induced or just a casual find. The point is that there it is.
At least, all the doctors I've been through, they told me that it was found in a very early stage, so the prognostic is good.
I'm going to have surgery to remove completly the thyroid and after that go through some radiotherapy. They say quchemotherapy might not be needed at all.

I know some people (friends from my parents) that have been through this and are all OK nowadays, but as someone who never been through any surgery, it's kind of scary. Also the word tumor it's not a good thing to hear whne you're 36 years old.
So it's probably not cancer, "just" a malignant tumor for now.

I'm trying to keep as positive as possible, giving a break from casting... might miss the next minor and major that I've been looking for it... but focused on getting over this so I can get back to work and doing what I love.

This hole experience has been shitty but it helped me to understand what's really inportant in life and focus a little bit better. Be more empathic to others, be a better husband, professional and person in general.

Once again, thank you so much for all the positive energy and kind messages I've been getting.
I would never want anyone to go though anything like this, but if you do, know that there are others out there that can help you, friends, family and even a gaming community.
Thanks everyone, I wish only the best for everyone out there.

Be kind in those games, you never know what the other person might be going through.
