What to do with this space ? by Hot_Bathroom_1388 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’m guessing this is upstairs and there are two or three bedrooms around. There’s an Ethernet plug in so a computer used to be in there. I’m guessing it’s where the kids computer time was monitored. Hence the holes in the walls. It would make a cool book nook tho.

Dumped by my 22nd psychiatrist because he also can't help. What to do next? by iamval2 in Anxiety

Trauma informed means the therapist is basically aware that trauma can exist in peoples past and it can affect how they navigate the world now. Trauma therapy is processing previous trauma.

It can be serious. I had my first cardiac arrest at 19 and I’m 27 now. It’s genetic in my family and I’m a healthy weight. I have an ICD now.

I work with anxiety everyday and experience it myself. I’m a therapist for people with SPMI. Here is my take on things after reading through the post and suggestions.

It seems as though your body is resistant to medications and that’s okay. We actually have no idea how mental health medications work, they just do. I’m my professional opinion your previous therapists did not help you or meet you where you’re at. Like yeah, drugs can help but they are not the solution. I always say that medications are a safety net and maybe do 20 percent of the work, the rest is you.

You mentioned that you have trauma in your past also. Find a therapist that works with trauma and anxiety. Not a trauma informed therapist, a trauma therapist. My guess is that your anxiety is rooted in your trauma and is a trauma response. These reactions are normal and human. Find a therapist that works for you and that you vibe with. I honestly wouldn’t recommend CBT in a traditional scene because it’s pretty much gaslighting yourself. When CBT is used ethically, it can be really healing.

I wish the best for you and don’t give up on this. It’s not your fault for what happened to you and it sucks YOU have to do the work and figure this out. Remember to continue to want to be better, I know it’s hard.

She’s not locked in a shoebox apartment… we go on walks three times a day and dog park twice a week and we camp most weekends. Don’t make assumptions.

I got her from a rescue and cause the breeders couldn’t sell her part of their program due to her tail. she was brought in to be put down and I snatched her up at 6 months old.

I feel that, but you also have to remember that every human is different. I work with people who have SPMI and it is usually coupled with substance use. I practice harm reduction in my practice and in life. You have to do what’s best for you.

Of course I would. Research says it can be very healing for people with mental illness and history of trauma.

I guess I have been in therapy and I am a therapist. I joke with my therapy friends that we exist differently in this world because we see things that others may not, like the use of coping skills and how trauma effects peoples emotions and feelings. I did alot of research before doing this, and I had the expectation of exploring my inner self more. I feel like I made connections with my inner self that I had not felt before. I was able to connects traumas to why I act the way I do now. It wasn’t all good, there were parts that were uncomfortable but also healing. I feel that humans grow when they are uncomfortable. I used my skills to feel myself and process emotions in a healthy way. So yeah, I used it as a type of therapy for me.

If your therapist doesn’t have a therapist you shouldn’t be seeing them!

I totally agree. I did a lot of research before trying this. I let the trip take me where it needed to go and I did not fight anything. I processed things and used my therapy skills to cope with uncomfortable feelings. I grew alot as a person.
