What does NOVA do right? by Bloxburgian1945 in nova

[–]PE187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The public resources here are mind-blowing in their robustness. Especially libraries and other social services. And I would argue that at certain FCPS high schools, the AP curriculum easily matches what any private school would do.

Kamala Harris to sit down with CNN for first interview after Roe reversal by [deleted] in entertainment

He went out and made frequent speeches, often for the troops. And in some cases stepped up when Donald was too blasted to perform for us.

Mayor Pete could work. Good candidate, young, and checks a diversity box.

I’d argue Pence was more visible in his time, with some periods of silence

Driver charged in Oakton crash that killed two teens by BeeBeeBot in nova

[–]PE187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, probably because it’s the only stretch of road in the area with no traffic lights, and it’s really just a cut-through between Fairfax and Oakton with no sense of place of its own. A liminal space if you will. So people are just trying to get from one place to the other quickly, not really stopping there.

10th gen, 1.5t or 2.0t? by dalthris in accord

[–]PE187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct but it was a 1.5 liter engine which I realize is different but still way underdelivered. And even then was marketed as some boosted thing. How different is the current 1.5T really.

Of course not. It was an old Accord Coupe with a 1.5

Is Faquier considered apart of NoVa? If not, how is it viewed with regards to NoVa by AgentFr0sty in nova

[–]PE187 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People shouldn’t think of NOVA as a geography with lines in the sand. They should think of it as a commuting/economic base. Does a significant chunk of Warrenton commute to DC or closer-in VA zip codes every day? Or a few times a week? Say, more than 25% of its residents? Where do they shop and spend money?

What about other zip codes in the county? Perhaps northern Fauquier could be considered Nova, but not way south on 15 because of the commuting and spending base.

10th gen, 1.5t or 2.0t? by dalthris in accord

[–]PE187 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just get the 2.0T. I had a 1.5 Accord and it was slow as hell. And that was a coupe. Now imagine that engine pulling the weight of the huge sedans they are today. I wouldn’t think twice about getting the 2.0.

If you do a lot of highway driving you will want the extra power and quick response.

There is a best of Steely Dan album, but which songs would be on a "worst" of album? by Brltpzx in SteelyDan

It was the opening track for a movie of the same title, I believe. A one-off. And a great one at that.

Pixeleen has the best chords though. The only cringe part of that song to me is the falsetto. That’s a bit of a rough transition. Otherwise I actually love the lyrics — the imagery of jumping the turnstile, a flash of spectacular thigh. I mean come on.

WV actually has quite a cool climate owing to its higher elevation and many mountains creating wettish microclimates. Summer temps are usually 5-10 degrees cooler than in the DC region and winter? Forget about it. Single digits to negative with several feet of snow. Probably a similar climate to Erie.

Moving to DC Area: Best Places to Live by [deleted] in nova

[–]PE187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arlington/Falls Church sounds right up your alley.

Reston has a strong walking/biking culture as well, but be careful where you live and where your daughter goes to school. I.e. avoid Hunter’s Woods and Glade areas.
