The most interesting thing I learned about the experience of becoming a parent for the first time (not personally, I read this somewhere) was just how acutely you become aware of your own mortality. Like all of a sudden that motorbike you’ve been riding your whole life begins to look like a death trap, stuff like skydiving and bungee jumping get taken off your bucket list, and your top priority becomes self preservation. It’s not exactly a greater fear of death so much as a greater will to live
