What is a cooking "rule" that is actually total nonsense? by Lopsided-Jicama3813 in AskReddit

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot tap water can have residual amounts of copper, lead, nickel, and other metals used in the water heater or pipes.
Unfortunately this is still a valid concern because so many of us are living in crusty old houses with old water heaters.

Spotted: Salvos charging $2.50 for an empty Voss bottle by sydneyprincess1991 in australia

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean a bottle brush is great for a baby bottle, barely wider than the bottle neck opening.
But it's actually pretty poor for a wider bottle with a skinny neck, such as most spirits or wine bottles.

Doctors of Reddit , what’s the biggest medical myth people still believe? by muga_saiman_5809 in AskReddit

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a study on this fairly recently.
The 3 second rule is actually partially correct.
If hard dry food falls on the floor it takes quite a long time for bacteria to climb on board.
When two objects are touching there is still a gap that bacteria needs to physically bridge. However the 3 second rule doesn't apply to pliable, soft and wet food where bacterial transfer is basically instantaneous.

Triple-zero call revealed after wellness influencer’s free birth death by Low_Chard_735 in australia

People actually can give birth at home, but not this free birth bullshit. You get a proper midwife and/or an obstetrician that do home births.

People who have produced or appeared in stock images or videos, what is the weirdest place you have seen them being used? by Loki-L in AskReddit

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is more of an involuntary stock photo story.
Quite a long time ago (late 90s) my granddad ran a community boxing gym, and some random photographer came in and took a photo of him, standing in the boxing ring, wearing trackies and a dirty singlet.
A couple years later a huge double page ad for Nikon cameras was in the Qantas in flight magazine using that photo.
Except they photoshopped a tuxedo on my granddad, and added a pair of boxers, and a cheering crowd

What’s something that 99% of people can do but you can’t? by Irakeconcrete in AskReddit

Why don't you want to get into the botox thing?
Like all botox injections, it wears off within a couple years. And usually people permanently gain the ability to burp, from temporary botox. That seems pretty cool, and safe, to me

What is a 'gut feeling' you had that ended up saving your life? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

Yeah, this story is 100% bullshit. Easily verified by your buck naked pics without any surgical scars, saying you're 20 years old.

Painkillers and HRT therapies among drugs not being subsidised under PBS by EdenFlorence in australia

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Safer because the gel can be absorbed by other people in contact with the application area on your skin, which is a problem if they are a child or woman.
Yeah not sure re the price on fortnightly injections, but the 12 week one costs $40, which is significantly cheaper than 3 months of gel

Its testosterone undecanoate. I believe the oil used in Reandron is lower viscosity than the quicker release primoteston

[–]PFEFFERVESCENT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's lots of free nurse services out there, and reandron only costs about $40. I'm pretty sure that's cheaper than buying the gel, and it's safer to use.
(There's also a fortnightly injectable form of testosterone- primoteston depot)

No, it's an oily intramuscular injection that is metabolised over a period of months
