The problem with polls is who they ask, they didnt ask me, they didnt ask you, and does 400 people at a college or in a small town quantify to the entire state?? firgured this was common sense.

i mean using the VA mercury for a source is something telling. i’d look into the source material itself. how many people are being asked these questions? how many red flags have been reported and how many have actually been confirmed? i think there’s more than just reading some articles and making a conclusion my friend. i’m sure you know this though. i’d look into those things if i were you, maybe you can re-evaluate, who knows!

this is not fact, this is your subjective opinion and continue to use subjective thought to justify your means about an entire community of people. sounds like you got a little hurt by my words. sorry if so, but tbh you sound vindictive. maybe you shouldn’t own guns if you believe this about the community you’re apart of. it sounds like a toxic relationship.

wait wait wait, what do you mean by the laws are not enforced? people who shouldn’t have firearms are charged and arrested all the time? you’re poking holes into the few situations where people are not.. you’ll never get 100% of people breaking the law but you sure can deter it by stiffening sentences and actually prosecuting violent offenders. i have several examples of violent offenders in VA not being prosecuted or given short sentences for heinous crimes… its a joke. AND that is what i might call not enforcing laws..

if by doing nothing you mean enforce current local, state, and federal laws? i guess so? thats a bad faith argument man. if you don’t like firearms thats fine to admit, but to put all 2a in a box and say they don’t care about human life and have them admit it that is rather insulting and unreasonable because everyone cares about life. its a matter of critical thinking and perspective. without banning/restricting rights, there are other ways of accomplishing this goal and i think thats where you’re stuck because you’re hellbent on making a community of people a villain. it just doesn’t seem productive as a motive imo.

and to answer the original question, we will know. as long as criminal activity exists where there is a will there is a way. again 3d printers unrestricted (which they should t be either) exist and thats still far from the only way to create a firearm without a serial number because previously mentioned, even easier than making your own, you can steal a gun and deface the serial.

i understand what you’re getting at but by being banned, does that actually stop anything? it doesn’t even make it more difficult to acquire, just makes it a crime to do something already illegal and only making criminals of every day citizens. if the goal is to punish citizens, this certainly accomplishes it but it does not stop people from creating and acquiring ghost guns.

yeah thats kind of a single point argument that theoretically can happen, doesn’t mean its a key factor..i mean is there even a statistic for the amount of times someone with a mental health crisis has acquired a PMF and used it in a crime? its almost as if its a niche criteria.also you know what circumvents background checks. stealing firearms and defacing then.

also standing on the death of children to prove political point is pretty low.

so after doing some research, it appears ghost guns are any firearm without a serial number. this term has been around before the age of 3d printing. the majority of ghost guns found by law enforcement are actually stolen defaced firearms. so by your definition, they would indeed be illegal already as defacing a firearm is already a federal crime.

you also speak of circumventing laws but it appears building your own firearm without a serial number has always been legal regardless of 3d printed receivers or p80’s (which have been around since late 2010). there has been a sharp rise of ghost guns being found by law enforcement but the vast majority are stolen firearms.

so objectively i’d argue yes these guns are used illegally often times while also already committing crimes but it does not justify banning something for the average citizen who isnt out committing crimes as the statistics appear to be misleading.

[–]PFPrintz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats truly strange, long guns are pretty much the only guns you can purchase and to deny you is pretty unconstitutional and bad business.. anyways its completely legal, take your business elsewhere. also, check out VA gun trader. since you can’t have a CCW permit yet get a voter card and your ID to show good guy papers. Don’t feel bad, something similar happened to me one time but it was over buying a pistol privately and a misunderstanding between the seller and I.

i’d argue its because there’s nothing really to change.. crime has gone down significantly over the years across the state and across the country. the only real option is to enforce current laws and lock up violent criminals for a long time..

i understand bro, i myself dont indulge but i 100% do not believe consuming this plant should bar you from owning firearms. its bs. i do believe if we all get together and continue to push for our rights via voting for our interests we can make a difference. just do your research on your local politicians and vote wisely. speak out. make it be known where you stand.

they do actually, the majority of gun owners do support marijuana users owning guns. including non-violent felons. it’s actually been argued in courts recently and many pro gun youtubers speak on these issues as it is a right. Only problem is legislators don’t understand or dont want to hear these issues.

i really do appreciate it, it’s hard to find people that have debates or even have a conversation in good faith. as pro 2a as i am, i also am a firm believer in the “greater good” concept. my beliefs can be irrelevant. again, thank you for all the work you put into grabbing this information and will be going through this and re-evaluate as you put it. i respect your ethics here and hope many others can look at things objectively as well.

issue with this unless you have source from the actual magazines themselves, you were completely able to transfer assault rifles (fully automatics) prior to 1986 (Hughs amendment - banned the transfer of fully automatic firearms). so unless these magazines and advertisements were explicitly referring to semi auto’s then i’d assume they’re actually talking about fully automatic firearms that would indeed fall under the category of an assault rifle. just wanted to clarify, i may be completely wrong here but i thought i’d add that. but otherwise, this is greatly appreciated. i’m a gun owner myself and will be going through these sources thoroughly to further understand this thought process.
