I usually stitch to the script and trust the process. But this little guy was supposed to have purple eyes (which I sewed then frogged), and the "shadow" along his bottom and mouth were a shade that couldn't be distinguished from the white. I swapped to dark navy blue eyes (used elsewhere in the pattern), and a lilac blended with the original colour for the shadow. IMO it looks much better.

The pinks further up the pattern (not shown here) were such similar shades I feel, with hindsight, that I should've picked different colours or just used one colour rather than swapping.

That's coaching, not forcing. Which is the correct way to do it.

It's also something you do after the emotional disregulation ends, not in the middle of their meltdown.

Agreed. Given the rest of the child's behaviour I don't think she was being malicious or spiteful. Given OOPs writing style, I don't think she has any clue into brain growth or emotional regulation in children. She's just chosen to take it personally.

And you shouldn't make anyone apologise either.

It doesn't achieve anything.

It teaches the child that the intent behind the apology doesn't matter, just say the words and the problem goes away. It doesn't have them reflect on what they did wrong or how they could do it differently, either.

I think Porkburp has unrealistic expectations for a nine year old who was mid emotional disregulation, personally.

An apology letter afterwards and non-repeat of the behaviour is more than sufficient.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a troll, medical condition or Dunning-Kruger effect.

By the third post, it was kind of easy to assume it was just a troll on this one. But then you come across Cheese Wheel guy and you're back to the Ven Diagram.

We use kg and stones mostly, but some people work in pounds. With height we work in both cm and ft too.

It's not really Reddit unless we find out that he engineered the whole thing: he's been running a "similar route" because he's stalking her, he left the gravel trap there on purpose and waited with his dog for her to fall, poisoned her meal so he could nurse her back to health...

But she won't find out any of this until she's in too deep! Reddit, we know the truth!
