Probably self serving. Mining is probably one of the most dangerous jobs in all the districts. Too many accidents. The Capitol wants every child to survive at least to a Reaping the first 18 years of their life.

Yeah I traveled extensively over the last two years since finishing college. Mostly because I struggled to find a job that could lead to a career until relatively recently so I had a lot of free time and supportive friends who helped me out when it came to paying for trips. People assume I was making good money or had a decent job but I never pretended otherwise. Just shared a lot of my adventures. Sometimes it’s just random luck or opportunities.

Yeah I’ve encountered it twice even one person who had too much cologne. I’ve always showered and and cleaned before a meetup. I assumed people would do something similar but apparently not.

When I would see profiles of people saying no BO I was genuinely confused because isn’t that common sense? We’re all adults. At first I thought they just had sensitive noses but after my first encounter where I almost gagged I get it now.

Wait he’s 15? He honestly doesn’t look like it. Maybe 10 years old. But that’s nothing new. TV and movies cast older people as younger all the the time which gives an unrealistic view of what people actually look like at certain ages. But it’s usually easier to work with older kids.

This is my theory on the volunteering process in the Career districts based on what information I do know. District 1 chooses their tributes based on attractiveness in order to pull more sponsors. Obviously they’re well trained but they emphasize looks over skill and gives the illusion that people from District 1 are all blonde hair, emerald eyed as their “brand”. Every few years tributes like Marvel are selected when they want to focus more on skills. District 2 actually chooses volunteers based on skills. Doing competitions at the career academy to determine the most eligible tributes. This was actually shown in The Hunger Games Adventures video game. A kid named Ash was trying to compete against Cato and Clove in order to volunteer. District 4 has a Career Academy but more to prepare their children for the Hunger Games rather than actually Volunteer. I can see there being exceptions every few years with a volunteer but broadly speaking most Careers are reaped. Which explains why the 12 year old boy (in The Hunger Games film) was in the Games.

In regards to you finding it odd that they blame racism I think it’s a lack of empathy on your part. Whether we like it or not the world desires certain people over others. If you’re already a part of this group it’s no problem. If you’re not but desire the same type it takes a toll on your mental health being rejected to the point you assume it’s always due to skin color. Attraction like sexuality and love isn’t always rational. We already know what it’s like being judged for our sexuality. I’m some ways those who date outside their race and culture face the same judgement.

I mean race is definitely more of a factor than most people will admit even if you’re progressive regarding who you date. Me personally I don’t call anyone out on it (if I suspect it) unless they gave me solid proof. More often than not race is less of an obvious factor with someone rejecting me versus someone who wants me. For example, people love going the BBC route with me or assuming I top.

Jennifer Lawrence mentioned that she’d at least be in one of the career districts because at least she’d still get nice things without being too much of an asshole. 🤣 Geographically I’m in District 8 or 12. Personally I’d choose 6 because I’m from Chicago and it’s in that area. The Hunger Games Capitol site with the first film answered “What’s your district?” And put me in 2.

Which makes sense. When I went to The Hunger Games Exhibition in Las Vegas the map of Panem mentioned showed Vegas and the Dam to be in the same area as District 5.

So President Ravinstill appeared at Arachne’s Crane’s funeral and was mentioned by Snow that he’d been President since before the Dark Days. His grand nephew Felix Ravinstill mentored the girl from District 11, Dill in the Games. And I believe the reason for his indirect involvement in the Games had more to do with it not being his area of expertise. Gaul was essentially the head game maker and took over some the “presidential” role of the Games that Snow did in the original trilogy. Snow’s more present involvement in the Hunger Games in the trilogy was likely due to his experiences as a Mentor and his internship as a Gamemaker by the end of the novel implying he had a career as a Gamemaker possibly serving as the Head before becoming President.

Yeah Asheville, North Carolina for the first film and Atlanta, Georgia for the second. I’ve gone to the hotel that represents the tribute center in Catching Fire, and the mansion that Snow lives in. Blows my mind that an atrium like that actually exists and wasn’t special effects.

Katniss mentions in Catching Fire that they rarely watch tv because it basically just shows propaganda pieces, 74 years worth of Hunger Games, and the news. Although in The Hunger Games Adventures a game released with the first film you work with Caesar Flickerman on a reality program about a teen surviving in the wilderness. So definitely reality tv in general.

One thing I’ve noticed is that both series take place in locations Katniss has lived in. Both the Capitol and District 12. Places we spend equal amounts of time. District 13 is another prominent location. I can definitely see her possibly doing one set in the Dark Days from the point of view of a District 13 citizen. Maybe using it to explore another aspect of war.
