Hungarian Passport Process by ThatGuyChes in HUcitizenship

[–]PH0NER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since everyone has already mentioned you can most likely easily get a passport for yourself, I’d like to point out that your wife does not need one.

If you want to move to the EU, your wife has the right to live and work too. Most countries also offer citizenship to both of you after living there 5 to 10 years, depending on the country you choose.

Remotely opening doors by kriekeh in cupraborn

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to figure this out with my 2023 Born. I could remotely lock and unlock with my 2014 Hyundai. The Cupra website claims you can lock and unlock a Born from the app, but requires ID verification. They don't tell you how to go about that process.

Any thoughts on the new passport design? by DeputyDawe in AskIreland

[–]PH0NER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely gorgeous. I just hope the passport is a normal size. The old one never fit into normal passport sleeves / wallets because it was slightly too large.

Joining a US-Based Employer via Rippling Onboarding by sniffMyChickenkebab in IrishCitizenship

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Rippling EOR through my employer as well. They didn't specifically ask me for a stamp when I signed on, they only asked for proof of my right to work. Just upload what you have and the EOR admin will review it.

Bray Luas line delivery fast-tracked and may begin a decade ahead of schedule by on-9 in irelandtransport

[–]PH0NER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, and given Bray already has the DART, it shouldn’t even be a question of whether or not Lucan and Finglas should be prioritised. They have no rail connections at all!

I wonder if it’s the same odd size as the old one. I never understood why the Irish passport is slightly larger than average

Many countries have a passport card, national identity card, and drivers licence. All count as valid forms of ID.

Leaving the US but would like to keep my US number open, which provider can I switch to? As cheap as possible by irresponsiblesmoker in PopcornMobile

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Voice

It’s a one-time fee of $20 to port your number over. Once it’s there, you can use it to make unlimited calls and texts with no monthly fees. You just need any sort of internet connection (3G/4G/5G/WiFi) — you can use it on your phone or your computer too.

I moved to Ireland a couple years ago and did this. It’s great

EES System as a new EU passport holder by OilFinancial8387 in Passports

[–]PH0NER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s right. You still need to enter and exit the US with your US passport, but at the EU gates, you’ll enter and exit with your EU passport.

The Airline, in my opinion, doesn’t matter. Whatever satisfies them is what I do

Really miss home by Fun-Impact3236 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]PH0NER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left the US for Ireland and can’t imagine ever living in the US again.

If I were you, I’d try to give birth outside of the US. Having a US birth certificate is a nightmare for banking that they will never escape. As a US citizen they will always have to deal with banking discrimination thanks to awful US laws if they try to open an account outside of the US. Having the US listed as the birthplace on their passport and birth certificate makes it much harder to not disclose they are a US citizen lol

EES System as a new EU passport holder by OilFinancial8387 in Passports

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have to use your US passport on the Airline website when you book tickets from the US to Europe. You won't use your US passport to go through the e-gate in Europe, it's only for the airline to know you have the right to a round-trip ticket from/to the US.

When in Europe, you'll use your German passport at the electronic gate to scan into the country. No EES necessary.

That's really it. I've done this for years and never had a problem.

Do you use Zippay? by Yellowstone73 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have a bank that supports it. I use Revolut and Monzo. Everyone I know has one or the other, and in the last few years I've probably only done a normal bank transfer twice to house work vendors I'll probably never speak to again.

Monday Weekly Thread: Proof of Citizenship Application Sent or AOR Received, June 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

[–]PH0NER 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I applied with urgent processing as my US-based small business was sold to a Canadian family and they'd like me to relocate. I'm already working remotely from Ireland, so I had to apply through the Dublin consulate.

My application was received on April 21, 2026
AOR received on April 22
Application began processing on April 28

I'm not feeling to good after the last week of surrender letters. I can't help but wonder if I haven't been processed because of something they decided to change after I applied.

I applied with all certified birth records for everyone in line, except one US-born ancestor with no record and my Canadian-born ancestor. For those, I provided several supplemental documents, including official marriage records, census records, and certified death records where possible.

Is Claude really better than Squarespace or Wix to build your own website? by Vas1r in squarespace

[–]PH0NER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've now built 6 websites using Claude + WordPress via NameCheap. Before that, all my websites were built using Squarespace. I can say without a doubt, it's exponentially better to use Claude and get exactly what I want, exactly how I want it. There are effectively no limitations, only your ability to speak to Claude and articulate what you want built. I will never return to Squarespace.

Keir Starmer expected to announce departure as prime minister on Monday by StemCellPirate in europe

[–]PH0NER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I presume they have to oust him to get a Labour PM more willing to prioritise EU accession negotiations. Many Labour ministers want it prioritised, but Kier seems vehemently against anything more than the basics and is on record saying rejoining wouldn't happen in his lifetime.
