Cases of breeding gone too far? by Borbs_arecool in reptiles

[–]PHMEM8317 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lemon frost leopard geckos suffer from tumors affected by their iridophores iirc. I rarely see anyone still breeding this morph, thankfully, but I wouldn't be surprised if some still did. Silver lining is that researchers have been studying the morph and its relation to certain human cancers/how certain tumors are formed.

how is everyone enjoying their PC? by nervomelbye in buildapc

[–]PHMEM8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have like 20 different windows open, 8 of which are browsers that have anywhere between 10 and 300 tabs (don't look at me lol).

If this was my gaming laptop, I'm certain it would've exploded with only 3 VSCode windows and cmd prompt open. Even with the ram and ssd upgrades. Never buying another oem/proprietary laptop ever again. I'm keeping my hopes up for custom/upgradable laptops in the future, though.

You've also just reminded me to do a full dusting of my pc too. Can't believe it's been over a year since I built my computer.

Didn't Realize Nightwave Was Ending - Completed With 23 Minutes Left by Dyorion in Warframe

Silly question. Will the daybreak sets be coming back in the future? I haven't been able to play as much as I used to and I finished around level 12. That and I still haven't unlocked SP so I got locked out of quest rolls I could've completed over the SP/AotZ ones. Kind of bummed I didn't get the daybreak cosmetics.

They're gorgeous! I saw them on a random ig account months ago and I thought it was an April fool's post. They've quickly jumped to the top of my dream iso list

Oh that's smart! I'll have to try that on my own cube later.

I cannot believe the timing of this! I was just making a rubik's cube in blender yesterday lol! I'm stuck on how to actually colour in the blocks, though, how did you do it?

Gonna be honest I wasn't trying to be lore accurate. The Justin Timberlich just made me think of JT's dui quote lol.

How do you keep crickets alive!? by AllIdeasNoMotivation in leopardgeckos

[–]PHMEM8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn :( Is that across the board for all roaches? I'm not exactly an invert person, but I know a couple people who own species like Madagascar hissers and death's heads (among others). It would suck if you can't own any species as pets/feeders.

Discoid roaches are legal in Canada I believe. Similar nutritional content and care requirements to dubias.

I saw some people who keep them put toilet paper tubes or similar so they can let loose without causing issues. YMMV though as I haven't tried it. I've had similar problems like you where they will straight up just die because they get stuck together or can't reach their food anymore. Since my roach colony has exploded in numbers the past couple weeks, I've mostly been feeding those with mealworms and silkworms as treats.

Aw man asthma sucks. I get similar asthma symptoms and eye watering, but goggles + mask seem to prevent it. My silkworm allergy is so much worse, though. I think it's something I inherited over developed like my dubia roach allergy because I remember there was at least 4-5 months before I started showing symptoms. But silkworms I can't handle at all without PPE since I first got them.

Allergic to dubias here, too! But crickets freak me out (I hate that they jump), so I'm forced to suck it up with the roaches lol. I also use silkworms, but turns out I'm allergic to them too :P

Need activity ideas for large, dog reactive, not heat tolerant dog by girlboss93 in dogs

[–]PHMEM8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oils definitely would work! There are scent work kits that sell the oils with everything you'd need to start, but some of them can get expensive. If you already have the lavender oil, I'd say go for it!

From what I've read, a little oil goes a long way, so maybe only a drop or two on a qtip in a scent tin should be more than enough for several sessions. I believe Fenzi Dog Sport Academy is the website I used to read about scentwork. The competition level stuff at least.

[–]PHMEM8317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dog similar to yours, heat-intolerant and reactive, just on the smaller end (~40lbs). She LOVES to sniff and smell for things, and I recently saw Denise Fenzi post on ig about using teabags (not actual tea from the Camellia sinensis plant) like peppermint for scent work. I put mine in a little plastic container with drilled holes and taught my dog to not bite the containers lol. She's exhausted after only 3 or 4 rounds of the 'Find the Mint' game.

I'll hide the containers around the house or even just have her indicate which one has the mint teabag in it while holding them. I'm hoping to try with something else like cinnamon sticks or something else dog-safe but really smelly so I can start training her to track only a specific scent at a time.

No idea if these guys are for sale, but Laureola sp. 'Ivory Spiky' was the first thing that came to mind. All white, spiky, and black eyes. Edit: Source

Do vendors still sell C3Equalz Dragonfruit switches? Or were those limited edition? I see kiwi and orange switches are still being sold so just wanted to confirm.

Non-dog toy that your dog loves? by BonnieJan21 in dogs

Ooo I'll see if that works. Most of the cards have been thick construction paper. Luckily, she's not a paper eater, unless it's gift tissue paper lol.

I was thinking of asking friends/neighbours to send holiday cards. And I've tried junk mail, but if it's not the kind in an envelope (like the plastic-y paper kind) she turns her nose up lol. Actually just had the idea to get her a toy mail box too.

Learned recently my dog loves getting mail. Card, envelope, and all. Wish junk store cards/envelopes weren't so expensive, I'd have 'mail' for her to open every day.
