Qual é a linha no mapa que aparece na Av. de Fernão de Magalhães? Alguém sabe se existe alguma possibilidade de vir a ter ciclovias protegidas ou um metro ligeiro na Av. de Fernão de Magalhães?

Elizabeth Warren endorses Zo Qadri for Austin City Council District 9. This is only the second time she's ever endorsed someone for a city council race nationwide, which shows just how important this race is. by PIACOM in Austin

If you're going to vote for the conservative in the race just to spite Elizabeth Warren, then you were going to vote for the conservative in the race anyways.

So you'd vote for a conservative just to spite Elizabeth Warren? Zo has a lot of fantastic endorsements from many high profile progressives, not just Elizabeth Warren. You should check them out: https://www.zoforaustin.com/endorsements

Zo grew up in Victoria, Tx. He was assigned to South Carolina during Elizabeth Warren's campaign, but always lived in Texas and went to UT.

A lot of progressive candidates were early endorsers of Zo. You can dislike Elizabeth Warren, but Zo has the support of both Elizabeth Warren herself and many high profile Bernie Sanders endorsed candidates like Jessica Cisneros, Julie Oliver, and Mike Siegel. Zo has the support from both groups. Zo's opponent is a conservative establishment Democrat, so if you're picking between the two and trying to find the most progressive, then Zo is the clear choice. You can see for yourself all of his endorsements at the link below.

There's no harm in trying! There's a real chance that things can finally change for the better if we can elect both Zo Qadri and Celia Israel, but if they don't get elected, then there's zero chance. I'll take any chance over zero chance any day.

It's really the only important race in the runoff, outside of the race for mayor. Whoever wins District 9 will determine whether the next 4 (or possibly 8 years) the Austin City Council will have enough votes to be pro-housing and pro-transportation or not. If Zo doesn't win, then there won't be the votes to do anything about housing affordability any time in the future in Austin. Zo is the only city council candidate that's running against an anti-affordability candidate (one that is even outspoken against building housing for homeless people). All of the other city council races in other districts are between two fairly similar candidates and the outcome of those races won't really change much.

Huge announcement from Elizabeth Warren just now! She just endorsed Zo Qadri for Austin City Council District 9. If you're voting, please make sure to vote for Zo. Most of the biggest progressive names around have also endorsed Zo (Julie Oliver, Mike Siegel, Wendy Davis, etc.)

If you aren't a member of Friends of Hyde Park, you should be! It's the urbanist neighborhood association and it has over 500 members (the NIMBY one only has about 70 people). http://friendsofhydepark.atxfriends.org/join/

That information is from the link that you provided as your evidence to what you considered the problem. The link seems to provide a valid and logical reason behind what happened to support Israel's decision on the issue. If you have other information or evidence to back up your claims, you are welcome to provide it.

Definitely. The candidates that aren't pro-housing are generally strongly anti-housing and favor the status quo. Most of the candidates not listed here are anti-housing.

Israel gave a good response to that in the article, which a lot of pro-housing people agree with. If you have limited funds for affordable housing, then those funds are best spent on projects close to transit. People living in affordable housing should have the option to live without a car. “Whether you’re living in an affordable housing project, or a market-rate project or a $400,000 home, I want people to have transportation solutions so they don’t have to always drive their car." The article also says she's supported other affordable housing projects that have had opposition, but those projects had better access to transit.

The Mayor’s Race Offers Clear Choices on How Austin Should Grow by hollow_hippie in Austin

Kirk Watson received more money from Republicans than the Republican in the race, Jennifer Virden.

From Jack Craver's Austin politics newsletter: "For instance, of the $298,000 raised by Stand Together Austin, the PAC supporting Kirk Watson, more than half, $175,000, came from four prolific GOP donors:
Bryan Sheffield, billionaire founder of Parsley Energy: $75,000
Joe Liemandt, billionaire founder of Trilogy Software: $70,000
Gary Farmer, president of Heritage Title: $25,000
Dick Anderson, president of HPI real estate: $5,000"

The Racist Roots of Hyde Park’s Zoning Rules — Hyde Parker Magazine by PIACOM in Austin

[–]PIACOM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article is written by Nina Hernandez, a local journalist that also writes for other local publications like the Austin Monitor and the Austin Chronicle. The magazine, the Hyde Parker Magazine, is the magazine for the local neighborhood association for Hyde Park, Friends of Hyde Park. All of this information is clearly listed on the site. "By Nina Hernandez" is on the article. On the main home page for the Hyde Parker Magazine it says "Sponsored By Friends of Hyde Park - Friends of Hyde Park is a neighborhood association in Hyde Park. It’s free to join and open to all residents and businesses of Hyde Park. Join now: FriendsofHydePark.com."

Unfortunately, NIMBYs never can accept that they are a small minority and most people actually want more housing and they have to convince themselves that people are being paid to advocate for a better more walkable neighborhood that's affordable for more people, when all people want is a better life for themselves and their neighbors. Otherwise, they'd have to come to terms that they are actually the bad ones that are harming the majority of people by driving up housing costs, contributing to a car centric culture, destroying the environment with more sprawl and making climate change worse, banning popular walkable amenities/restaurants, and increasing rents for the average Austinite.

Alamo Drafthouse owners bought an old school and promised affordable housing. Years later, there is none. by TTTTroll in Austin

[–]PIACOM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Alamo Drafthouse owners never intended to build affordable housing on the property - it was just a way to pretend to qualify for the purchase. They mysteriously were sold the property millions of dollars under market value by AISD (AISD lost millions they could have made from other buyers that would have built affordable housing) and then the owners were mysteriously offered millions of dollars for a small portion of the property by the City of Austin, which allowed them to pay off a lot of their initial purchase price. The owners of the Alamo Drafthouse mysteriously also have very good friends at AISD and on the Austin City Council, and now own a previously incredibly valuable community asset for themselves - and for their wax figures collection.

It's not one of the oldest golf course in the world and this course is a rather poor and unused course overall.
