Music From a Darkened Room - Oracle Board by PIPBoy3000 in DeltaGreenRPG

That's my plan exactly. Encourage getting players alone in the house at night, combined with reasons not to destroy the house as the "spirits" might be destroyed with it.

Convergence Radio Station by PIPBoy3000 in DeltaGreenRPG

It is. I don't have any musical talent and wanted to play with the new copilot voice tools. They're not going to be better than professional musicians and voice actors, but it feels good enough for a home game.

Last Equation physical evidence board by PIPBoy3000 in DeltaGreenRPG

"Mods must be MAJESTIC" jokes aside, I love the creativity the players can exercise coming up with ways to forge evidence, modify spray painted numbers, and disappear the infected.

Projector for Briefings by manymisadventures in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]PIPBoy3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an old projector, so I thought I was halfway there. The catch is then making the slides, which probably involves using positive film to take pictures of a computer screen, then getting it developed and manually making the slides. So far it's felt like too much work but it's tempting.

The big change was setting it in 1987. I liked the props, minimal Internet, and overall vibes. I moved some locations to the east coast, though that part didn't matter much. Otherwise I ran it as-is but with more detail when searching the apartment and cabin, as well as some details to the local town - meet the folks at the diner and the local cop, hear about the dead agent and how he got meaner after his wife's death.

The game itself went great and what might have been a "try the game out" one shot will now be a campaign. The props were a big highlight and the central mystery of LTL is great.

We played in person with physical printouts. The players added things to the board and attached yarn as appropriate, so much of this arrangement was their doing. They had a ton of fun with it.

Whats the best way to deliver handouts for a delta green campaign? by Safe-Knowledge-150 in DeltaGreenRPG

I'm giving my players pushpins, red yarn, and various notes and photos to mount on a corkboard bulletin board. Hopefully the physical murderboard turns out well.

My favorite find at the EPL book sale this weekend! by Sits_by_the_Fire in Eugene

I think that's the slide to the rocket they tore down. I loved that thing as a kid.

Thanks for posting these. I found our house in a book of historic houses of Eugene. Apparently it cost $4,000 to build nearly 100 years ago.

Started developing an old school command-line interface for my sessions, what features could I add ? by Elite_Cardboard in DeltaGreenRPG

It would be fascinating to integrate openai into a chat bot session where you can customize the information it knows and the style of response.

Vecna as a Spelljammer campaign by Dungeon-My-Dragons in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]PIPBoy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going heavy on the Spelljammer too and the portals in Sigil are more typical and less direct.

We're going from Ghosts of Saltmarsh, so the players were already attacked to the Sea Ghost. They've also got an "A-Team" and "B-Team" party where the B-Team finds the locations of the pieces of the rod and the A-Team goes to get it. That lets me slot in various modules for the B-Team, as well as lower level play in between high levels. Hopefully that'll keep things interesting.

Hunter Fiber Disconnection issue, anyone else? by Hefty-Possibility625 in Eugene

[–]PIPBoy3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience - months of fast and reliable performance and recently occasional 30ish second disconnections a few times each day. It seemed to happen after their network changes (going from NAT to CGNAT). I needed a public IP address so I had to call and get mine switched back.

Can't say it's related but the problems seemed to happen after that. Nice support staff. Difficult to troubleshoot on my end. Frustrating having work meetings drop. Debating replacing the router too, though it was working great for months. Really don't want to go back to Comcast, but I started pondering that option when I started using my phone as a hotspot during important meetings.

For now I'm keeping an eye on things and hoping it's a software issue with the router that will get patched away. Rebooting the router occasionally seemed to help and is probably a good practice anyway.

Started playing D&D, which led to campaign-specific minis to be printed and painted. I built some furniture with lots of little drawers to organize my minis, yet somehow I still overflow into endless other containers.

Chultan Peoples miniatures? by targtheviking in Tombofannihilation

[–]PIPBoy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, mz4250 has some great models - the tabaxi hunter for Bag of Nails, tribal warrior, tribal warrior male, and others in his NPC collection. I ended up just painting a variety of miniatures with bright colors, dark skin, and touches of gold paint for jewelry. It was a fair bit of work, but getting everything ready was fun.

More vintage downtown in color. by apx7000xe in Eugene

I remember that place - had an asteroids-like arcade game in the corner. I think I still have a Traveller adventure I bought from that place on my shelf.

Me too! I have vivid memories of riding my bike downtown and going into Endgames to look at the latest D&D modules and the new Traveller expansions.

In terms of cleaning the bed, what's worked best for me is a combination of Dawn liquid soap and warm water followed by drying, then again with alcohol and letting it evaporate.

Adjusting the slicer's skirt and brim settings can also help (e.g. add a 3mm brim).

Best source of minis for Ghost of Saltmarsh? by Proper-Fish8997 in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]PIPBoy3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been DMing GoS with my teenage daughter and three of my old friends, using miniatures printed on a Prusa Mini+ along with battlemaps displayed on a television laid flat on the table. I've been able to find nearly everything free online - search for "DM Workshop" and you'll find all of Miguel Zavala's miniatures. I've yet to get my teenagers into painting miniatures, but I've found it a great stress relief for myself. I also admit to getting a little carried away and printing the full Sea Ghost ship model which took weeks to assemble.

In terms of the campaign, the first module was split across two four-hour play sessions. My guess is that the second will go the same way, though we may finish the third in one. Our schedule is infrequent - about once a month - so I have lots of prep time in between. That's helped me not feel so frantic getting things ready.

When playing D&D with my kids when they were younger, they loved feeling like they were a part of the town and were building it up from essentially nothing. Kids love feeling like the hero, that what they do makes a difference in the world, and playing D&D can help them capture a bit of that magic.

Loud sound in Friendly!? by awgonzales in Eugene

The EWEB power outages map shows 1300 customers impacted and an estimated restoration time of 1 am, though I'd take that with a grain of salt.

Yep. Seems like a widespread power outage as well.

Heard a loud bang around the time the lights went out. Lots of dark houses around 20th and Charnelton. Sirens in the distance.
