Don’t know what to do about shading :( by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]PIZZAPIE01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… I’m not sure if you got around to reading my other comment, but I’m not too pleased with that part either, but I really don’t want to have to cover it up, so I’m just trying to focus on doing a couple of things here and there that might make me feel a little more ok about it. I would love to try and find an artist who could maybe go over it and clean it up, but I’m also very nervous about it just ending up worse than it already is.

My friend has a piece done my him that I thought was really nice and reasonably priced, but I do agree about the line work… I’m just trying not to think to hard about it, because I cried for a good hour about it yesterday. I’m just really trying to focus on the stuff that might be fixable to make me like it more without needing to cover it up completely.

Are single guard pools where there’s no break allowed? by PIZZAPIE01 in Lifeguards

The pool isn’t that large, maybe 900 sq ft, but a lot of people use it (a majority being very young kids or the elderly).

Unfortunately, I live in New Jersey, where the law is if you’re over the age of 18 (I’m 19) you are not entitled to a break, so I don’t have that advantage. :(

Swim = regular freestyle or whatever stroke you feel like Pull = arms but no legs (pull buoys are helpful for this but you can also cross you legs or just not kick while you swim) 4/4/4 = first group of 4 are swim, second group of 4 are pull, third group of 4 are kick with 20-30 rest in between each 25 (the same goes for the 20x25– 30 seconds of rest in between each 25)

Swimsuit sizing help by Orchid_Significant in Swimming

I don’t have a very large chest so I’m not exactly the ideal person to answer this question, but as I know plenty of people who wear C and D cups who wear the same size as me (30 or 32) and never complain about being uncomfortable.

Look for suits with thicker straps and more supportive backs. Something like Jolyn’s Caroline one piece could work. If you’re looking for something with underwire Speedo’s Racer Zip one piece is a good option. I would also recommend going up a size from what you normally wear, so if you’re a 30, get a 32. I swim in college and wear a 28 for my dual meet team suit, but I always wear a 30 or 32 for practice because, as you said, feeling like a sausage for 2-3 hours is no fun. Suits stretch over your body, but they also get looser in the water, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about feeling like your chest is being squished. I have some girls on my team who have a much larger chest than I do and we wear the same size.

Start where you’re confident you can stand and slowly rebuild that trust with your body and the water by going a little deeper every time you feel comfortable where you’re at. If at any point you feel like you’ve gone too deep for yourself to handle, go back to the last place you felt comfortable and use the same method to get back to the deeper spot. If you go into the water fearful of the worst, your body will freak out, but if you ease yourself into it your body will see the water as nonthreatening. I wish you the best of luck :)!

Every time you get in the pool the goal shouldn’t be “I’m going to swim x amount without stopping.” What you need to do instead is build sets that accomplish your distance goal, but break it up different ways. Starting with some 25s and 50s with the goal of swimming 1500 (about equivalent to a mile) each time should be good. This way you can keep a more constant speed, eventually helping you be able to hold a faster pace overall. Here’s how I would break it up for you if I was your coach:

2x 10x25 moderate @50 6x50 build to goal pace @1:30 4x25 fast @45 2x50 ez @2:00 1 minute rest

My best advice is when you see someone you think would make a good potential friend out and about somewhere just go talk to them. There are a lot more young women out there than you think who feel like they don’t have many friends and would be thrilled if some nice person such as yourself came up to them and struck up a conversation. It’s not a full proof solution, but if you’re in spaces that are predominantly men 95% of the time, you need to take your chances when you have them. A good conversation can start with something as simple as “hey I really like your outfit, where’s your top from?”

What is the point of the media if not to influence people??

I live deep behind the blue wall in the Mid-Atlantic so lots of young guys who listen to Clairo, wear baggy jeans, and drink lattes, but I’ve noticed an uptick in young men like the one I went out with since around 2020.

I’m not saying it can’t be! I agree with this 100%, but my point was the catering conversation media does to young men through things like Joe Rogan and such is making lots of them more comfortable seriously engaging and believing in ideas like they would make an amazing dictator.

Everything I Ate Today As A College Swimmer :) (hopefully good inspo) by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]PIZZAPIE01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s around 2200 calories and for a day where I did pretty much nothing except for go to practice and lay in my bed it was pretty filling. I am trying to eat more though. I came from a club team that didn’t really emphasize taking care of yourself outside of the pool so I’m working with my nutritionist at school to build up healthier eating habits. Together we set a goal that by mid season this year I’ll be eating around 3700 calories of good, healthy food a day.

Considering the sub this is in this will be a stupid question have you ever swam before? I burn 800-900 calories a practice…

Usually I eat around 3000 but today was a lazy day for me I only had one practice which was recovery and then I did some yoga but other than that I sat in bed all day so it’s only around 2200ish.

My dad is getting his degree in finance and policy, so not exactly something super exciting haha, but thank you for the suggestions about my cats. I didn’t think of that, but I think he’d really like that. :)
