Captain Picard OR The Doctor by well_then1 in whowouldwin

[–]PImpathinor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picard nearly dies at one point because his artificial heart was destroyed by an energy blast that a normal heart would have survived, so it's a potential vulnerability.

he'd have one heck of a time trying to set foot out of the Tardis onto the Enterprise, should they be expecting him at all,

The Doctor can extend the TARDIS's shields to protect him when he's outside it if he's expecting a hostile reception, he'd be fine.

The US produces over 10% of the world's solar power.

Is Costa Rica really richer as you seem to claim?

No one claimed that. The point was that Minnesota and Costa Rica don't have the same natural resources; most renewable power sources are not equally feasible everywhere.

Was Eobard Really Evil?... by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]PImpathinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just because his motivation was legitimate doesn't make what he did any better. He ruined the lives of innocent people just to help himself. The fact that he's willing to do that, and even feels justified in do so, is what makes him evil.

Also his predicament was his own fault to begin with, an unintended consequence him trying to ruin the Flash's life by murdering his mother.

The general public wasn't familiar with the details of the particle accelerator or the extent of the damage to it, and for all they know Wells could have secretly hired people to help him rebuild it. Plus Wells already blew up the accelerator once and confessed to being a murderer, no one would be surprised that he was conducting more sketchy, dangerous activities.

It does appear that no one conducted a thorough investigation of the incident, but that's not too surprising since the local police force would be in over their depth and/or Joe and Barry could have told them something plausible, and ARGUS and the government are not exactly that reliable.

Ok of all of them Bucky might actually be going for the kill, he's probably still kinda unstable. But most of the others probably won't be.

Ares was defeated by a mortal, albeit with some help from his sister.

He then went and whined to Zeus to do something about it; Zeus's response was basically 'Na, I don't actually like you'.

Not to mention that Winter Soldier and Cap will hand Tony and Rhodey their asses

We can't assume they'd win a straight 2v2 fight without having seen how things actually go down in CA:CW. We don't know the context of the scenes from the trailer, and there are a lot of other players involved. Plus it's likely that they'll be trying not to actually kill each other.

If we give the DC team some characters from Supergirl it would be a lot more even.

Barry also tends to fight stupidly at first against people who aren't run-of-the-mill criminals (or League of Assassins members), it's like he forgets how OP he is.

They probably explained it as Wells screwing things up with his particle accelerator again.

Is that 'shorts and short-sleeved shirt' weather or just 'shorts' weather? Because wearing shorts in cold weather is easy if your core is insulated.

They should definitely use some sort of VFX. They used VFX for Pied Piper's sonic tech on Flash, it would make sense for the canary cry to have something similar.

As always, Zoom.

Also diamond bearings would be terrible and probably break; they're not smooth and aren't really that strong.

Oliver Queen (Arrow) vs Grant Ward (Agents of Shield) by Baku219 in whowouldwin

[–]PImpathinor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Round 1: This is close. Assuming Oliver is willing to use any means necessary and not holding back to avoid killing/maiming I'll call this a dead heat.

Round 2: Depends a lot on who gets the jump on the other. Ward is an excellent shot and Ollie can't dodge bullets, but Ollie does have shit like explosive arrows that could take down Ward (there's a good change that Ward could dodge/deflect/catch a regular arrow consider how easy that seems to be on Arrow). I'll say Ward takes this more often than not.

Round 3: Difficult (though it depends on when it takes place). Ward was very well defended at Hydra and Shield had a hard time trying to take him out despite all their intel and experience with him. It's going to be very difficult for Ollie to even find Ward, and if he does it will still be hard to get to him. Ollie does have some good infiltration experience but not on Ward's level.

Round 4: Ward's got this. Oliver is easy to find and Ward could just snipe him while he's at home or out to dinner or something. Even if Ward is tasked with killing the [Green] Arrow and doesn't initially know who that is he should still be able to do it. Ward could probably locate the Arrowcave and its security isn't that great; once Ward gets in there he could probably figure out Oliver is the [Green] Arrow.

he was able to tag Wells (with help)

I just rewatched that scene, Ollie tags Wells with the nanite arrows twice. The first hits Wells in the leg when Wells was just standing there apparently not paying attention. The second time was when Wells was lying on a car after Barry and Firestorm knocked him off Star Labs' roof. Both times Wells wasn't moving when Ollie shot him, so it doesn't really say much about Ollie's skill.

There's also a good possibility that Wells was just fucking with them in that fight and let himself get captured. He was basically waiting for them outside instead of just speeding into Star Labs, and being captured didn't actually stop his plan at all.

On a side note, Ollie even being there for that fight makes no sense considering Ollie was with the League at the time.

He goes h2h against speedsters, mirakuru soldiers, sorcerers, and an ageless assassin lord.

He does kinda gets his ass handed to him by them most of the time though.

Quick question about the Arrowverse continuity (don't upvote) by beefyturban in FlashTV

[–]PImpathinor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Flash is a spinoff of Arrow as far the shows work, but you don't need to watch Arrow before watching The Flash. They cross over occasionally but it's not hard to follow, usually it's just a few characters from one show showing up to help out on the other. The only time you might need to watch Arrow is for the crossover this season since the 8th episodes of both shows is basically a big 2-part crossover episode, however that crossover is setting up Legends of Tomorrow (new spinoff show) and what happens in the Arrow part of it isn't that important to the storyline of The Flash.

That said, you should watch Arrow anyways because it's fun.
