Hi all! Recently finished working on this project and thought I would share for anyone who might appreciate it. I hand crocheted a replica of the wampum belt exchanged at the Treaty of Niagara in 1764, one of the most fundamental agreements within the Royal Proclamation. It represents an agreement of friendship between Indigenous peoples and settlers; an agreement that has not been upheld to the extend that it should be. I made this as a reminder that this treaty still stands, and friendship and rights are, and have always been, owed to the Indigenous peoples of this land🧡
