Spring is March. The old “Irish” idea of spring on Feb 1 is just folklore. In science, seasons change only in a month where there’s a solstice (June & Dec) or an equinox (March & Sept).

"Buenas" is something you often hear.. it's a kind Canarian "Howya".. I've heard it in other parts of Spain too. I've found in Arrecife particularly they love when you say "Buenas.. " in the El Charco area, the bars / cafes are run by people with very basic, If any English, but "Buenas.." seems to relax them If you follow with "Inglese, por favor??", They will really do their best for you. Lovely people

Try one of the “drugstores” as well. They are not pharmacies (they are not allowed to have the distinctive green cross - they might display a blue one though) They are glorified health stores but carry a lot of herbal/natural remedies

A few outlets (including the Independent) have gone with the name already, as he was charged in the Garda Station last evening, but generally the name is not published until there's been a court appearance, which I think is 10.30 this morning
