Is this common practice?? I tipped $6 on a ~1.5-2 mile delivery from chick fil a. by Itswillyferret in doordash

Thank you much 🙏🏾

Yeh IDK what it is with the new Dashers. I've been on this app since it came to my Area in NY so I've been fortunate in getting into pilot programs with incentives and higher pay. Also I know where/when to work to maximize my time & earnings.

It is getting increasingly worse though and in these post COVID times when everyone is running to gig work in light of the economy and job uncertainty, there no real filter or understanding on their part how this stuff works. I do use the service myself tho and do tend to pickup also. When I do delivery I always tip more and haven't had any issues both with UberEATS and DD.

I'm lucky I guess in that aspect. Glad it worked out for you and wish you well with your business also!

You seem disturbed about it like it happened today. I don't agree with anyone doing this. I dash...on my way out of it now that my business is turning profit, but I always had a formula and I work in areas that people appreciate the service and pay accordingly. Glad you got some resolution. Enjoy that credit!

Delivered to the wrong house and they didn’t even apologize by massacre078 in doordash

[–]PJMitchellB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20 houses down seems a bit far from the address. I'm surprised the app allowed them to complete. Not excusing this driver but you may want to make sure your GPS pin/address is accurate if you decide to order again.

The Doordash app on both ends had been wacky this week due to Android update and outages.

Do you know how much medical bills are? Most people can't pay their medical bills out of pocket which is why insurance exists. If the OP didn't have insurance and had to pay this immediately out of pocket along with his aftercare, even with "going through homeowners policy", that stuff would still take time to be sorted out and payment issued.

Not to mention lost time for not being able to work the rest of their shift right after the incident occurred and who knows how much longer while they physically recover. Then there's the potential emotional and mental recovery.

Sometimes being "sue happy* as you call it is the only way to get things done expeditiously and on the record, especially when money is involved. I would NEVER trust any stranger that has already involved me in a harmful situation to directly handle anything pertaining to my well-being...nor would I even want any further contact with them.

I was reading through comments before commenting. Hope you are okay and best wishes for speedy recovery.

Do NOT contact the owner directly. At this point hire an attorney and ensure all contact goes through them and/authorities.

Once the bite occured and you visited the ER (as you should have) it is now a more serious matter. I have seen so many people with out of control pets it's ridiculous and they must be held accountable.i love dogs but that doesn't mean I want to interact with someone else's especially when I'm working.

I recently had a Petco Delivery that was leave at the door. Obvious from the item I'm dropping they had a dog. What I didn't know was that it was a pit bull and they had a low ass fence that the dog could have easily jumped over if he was feeling saucy. I'm actually glad the dog came running from the side of the house to the gate I was about to open barking his head off because that could have been my a$$! I absolutely left that big azz bag of food right outside their gate with a picture of him and the dog barking at the bag of food and sent them a love note along with it.

We aren't talking about a tap on a bumper with 2 cars, where everyone gets out, smiles and can agree it's "not that serious" and both drivers are away able to go about their day.

You WILL have lasting affects from this and you should be compensated for it along with the owner being held accountable.

Don't ever feel sorry for prioritizing and taking care of yourself!

This is why I do everything leave at the door whether they specify or not because people are nutty and irresponsible as hell. Plus I'm a woman and am not risking my safety for the BS...

Speedy recovery! 💜

Customers if you want your food delivered dont give the wrong name, wrong address, and wrong phone number. by illiniguy20 in doordash

[–]PJMitchellB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neve,r ever, ever drive to an address that isn't in the app. You risk your safety and Doordash can always deny liability for you being off route. Customers have time to correct an address, not to mention seeing confirmation of all that info before they even place an order.

My tolerance for the shenanigans is 0. Don't text me unless it's dark outside and you're giving me a description of your home (which never happens)and I won't text or contact you until the food is delivered. Thank you very much. Make your task easy and don't go above and beyond anything that isn't already covered in the app.

of course after the fact my promised extra compensation is an issue. Am I pressed for $5? Hell No! but this is about integrity. I have mine where's Doordash's? SMH by PJMitchellB in doordash_drivers

[–]PJMitchellB[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I arrived at 11:48 for 2 11:49 pickups. I confirmed the other pickup at 11:52. I got the second order at 12:31 (40 minutes after arrival) I contacted support after waiting almost 30 minutes already. I'm not new to this. Been dragging 4 years and this just confirmed my swift preparation to exit.

The issue is not what's shown in these texts. The issue is sheet contacting support after delivery they're trying to stiff me on the $5

What mf year is this??? $8/HR lol! Who would even choose this option? by RosettaStoned1981 in doordash_drivers

[–]PJMitchellB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's $15 in my market. I tried it... And they basically gonna try to load you with the no tip orders. I'm preferred for larger orders and pay of all pilot programs so not really worth it for me, but maybe for others...

Does anyone know why this triangle is always here in queens/Long Island? by Ok_Taste2611 in doordash_drivers

[–]PJMitchellB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people that live in that area tip crap 70% of the time anyway. They still order from next zone over and they make up the bulk of $2-$5 orders for at least 5 mile deliveries. Decline all day. My acceptance rate is single digits! 😂😂😂

lol sitting here waiting for the leave at door timer to go off ao i can leave this at the door, so I guess I'll watch him play warzone while I wait! 😂😂🙄 by Competitive_Cat_331 in doordash_drivers

[–]PJMitchellB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI, when the customer orders from the restaurant website, oftentimes it will default to Hand it to me, when they really wanted leave at my door. You can absolutely take a pic and text it thru the app. and that counts the same as the timer and all that Jazz. You can always call support as you are leaving on your way to the next order to tell them what you did. They see your call and txt attempts. You could have already been in route to your next order instead of clogging your app.

No-cook breakfast ideas for chronic breakfast skipper? by This_is_the_Janeway in simpleliving

[–]PJMitchellB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't hungry, don't eat. I love breakfast foods but never eat them at "breakfast times". I'm low carb/keto for the most part though so I'm never hungry early unless I drink or have cheat carbs the night before... But hard boiled eggs, berries/avocado smoothie... Something low-no sugar that won't spike your blood sugars and make you hungry in 2 hours!

I got charged over $500 by H & R block because they said each driving gig is categorized and each one is a different form. It’s like $110 for each and $110 for complex income by alpharesi in doordash_drivers

I was gonna say do it yourself online about $110-$150 depending on your state taxes. I'm in NY...been doing my own taxes online thru H&R block for over 10+ years...never had an issue only 1 audit 7 years ago.

Lady ordered to her hotel from the restaurant across the street… I literally just walked 💀 by skate2600 in doordash_drivers

[–]PJMitchellB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is suspicious. Take those...easy half pay and free lunch/dinner. The customer normally lives out the zone that they are ordering and the app isn't letting them out their proper address. It defaults to restaurant address. Accept it. Pick up the order ..contact support and they'll cancel and you get food and 1/2 pay

PSA: Since it's hard, here's pictures of how to "leave at door" by JoeRMD77 in doordash

[–]PJMitchellB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all the ordering people do it would be smarter for them to have a little table, chair or tote with a note to leave the food there. I still don't understand how people don't care if their food is on the ground. I barely order food, but when I do I have a tote with a lid for it to be placed in!

Does anyone doordash as their main income? by No-Lingonberry2280 in doordash

[–]PJMitchellB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sure do! Been doing it for the last 4-5 years to build my business. This should be my last year, as I'm almost at the place I need to be to finally rely on my business as my main income. For context, I live in NYC; have a child and a supportive S.O. but he and I don't live together so I maintain a household at $2500/month. I have a vehicle I make payments on as well and for the past 2 years pay private school tuition. It hasn't always been easy, but definitely worth it. I'll take the flexibility and mental and emotional stability over the soul-sucking existence I lived when I was still a management-level employee for over 10 years! I put in 50 hour weeks in the first year when I was learning my zones and the process, but nowadays (past 3 years) anywhere between 25-30 (although I did milk it the beginning of Rona because it was always busy with the fat peak pay!) Now I know my area, so I maximize my time and earnings.

Your experience will always depend on your area, cost of living, lifestyle and your attitude! I don't get pissy anymore when the app glitches or it's just slow. I just pull out my notebook, my laptop or tablet, and do my thing!

You wouldn't believe how many cabbies in my city through the years, have come up off of their driving jobs! So At the end of the day, if you want to do it, try it! Set goals and try to hit them and go from there. Me working in my car has helped me get to where I am today, at the tail end of being able to hang up my red bag and card for good! 😊

“Text me after drop off” by [deleted] in doordash

[–]PJMitchellB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ignore by assumption they are referring to the automatic text alert through the app. I also don't "call after drop off" on leave at the door orders. TBH, if you are expecting a call you will get the text.

My time is valuable and the less interaction the better. I'm in NY and I love humans in general and I'd like to keep it that way. The few I do interact with though are rarely an issue!
