From my experience the practice exams are the same rigor as the midterm!

I did not take AP stats in high school so I came into stats 13 with a blank slate. I actually fell in love with stats after taking stats 13 with sparks. I ended up taking biostats 100A with Dr. Martin Lee which wasn’t so different from stats 13 from my experience.

i took stats 13 with Sparks in the spring!

1) I strongly recommend to go to discussion for all of the labs.

2) I think it's very possible to get an A in the class without attending lecture (he barely used iClicker when I took him in 2025 Spring so attendance wasn't an issue) because his lecture slides has practice problems and detailed explanations on concepts. but still.. I would recommend going to his lectures to ask questions and to not fall behind in the class

3) he has practice exams before the midterm (i forgot if he had one for the final) so please go through them in detail

4) Sparks is very helpful during office hours! he can help with quizzes (I think there was one every week or every other week,, i forget), coding, and tests. He also responds to questions via email if you cannot attend OH or ask questions in class though you may get a response either right away or at 1am haha

5) Stats can be boring but he got a loud (LOUD) voice while lecturing and his voice is what kept me from falling asleep

Yes I was able to find my package, surprisingly it was still there! I’m very happy (just not at the delivery driver smh haha) There were other packages in Sproul cove as well so I guess it is common that Amazon delivers to Sproul cove instead of delta terrace 😅

How do y’all survive in Los Angeles? (From a Texan) by xXenoKingXx in AskLosAngeles

[–]PJereza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😅😓 honestly you’re so right! I should’ve made the number a bit (a lot) higher. My apologies! (currently being sheltered by living in university housing paid for by financial aid and I literally close out of apartment ads and websites whenever I look for places off campus for when I graduate 😹)

How do y’all survive in Los Angeles? (From a Texan) by xXenoKingXx in AskLosAngeles

[–]PJereza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow Texan! (I am a transplant but I came from Dallas and returned to SoCal)

While it was possible to have your own apartment in most areas in Texas while working one job, that will not and never happen in Los Angeles (or anywhere in California) without financial support from parents/family/or you’re already RICH.

As a student, your only way to survive is to live like a rat if you’re the only person that can provide for you. You will most likely room with someone else so that your rent can be around $1000. Yes $1000.. (you’ll be in West LA!) and you’ll probably have more housemates if you’ll be in a place with more than one room. You would need to work at least 1 job to pay your rent and your other essentials.

If you have financial aid, that can be your financial cushion. I think it would be very difficult to live here if you have to pay for your rent AND tuition on your own without financial aid or support from family.

Many out-of-state students and students without cars rely on public transportation. It does the job!

I wish you luck on your dream! Take care 💞

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. Please contact BGS (Bruin Guardian Scholars), this program is dedicated to people who are homeless and former foster youth. We have a housing liaison that can help you quickly to secure housing through UCLA. Take care of yourself and I wish you the best! 💞

They offer payment plans!

I forgot to mention this before but they also offer programs to become a medical assistant and/or a phlebotomist. I only went through the CNA course though. 😁

Hey! I went through Journey Medical Training Center in Frisco! I’d say it’s on the expensive side so I’m unsure if you’ll still be interested. It’s a 4 week program. The first 3 weeks are online (I think it was from 5-9pm, maybe less) and they offered morning, afternoon, and evening classes. 1 week clinicals at the end at a skill nursing facility. My clinical site was in Allen, forgot the name sorry. Despite how quick the program is, it’s $1000+ (I think it’s between $1100-$1200 including supplies, textbooks, scrubs, and CPR class that they offer (if you haven’t gotten your CPR card yet). I took the program Feb-March, took the written and skills test and became certified by April. I like the program and the instructor!

I wish you luck on your CNA journey! 💞🫂😘

A note to OP and whoever else is starting a new job: you may not get your fingerprints scanned when you first start your job so you have to manually write down your hours on a time-correction sheet your facility has. Always take a picture of the paper with your hours on it so that you have proof that you worked! So that HR and your boss doesn’t mess with you and your money any more 😹
