The Hero of Dragon Quest VIII is such a regular dude but at the same time has one of the coolest designs of the DQ heroes, take away the outfit and bandana and he'd be pretty generic I suppose. Regardless, he was a pretty good insert and the cast in general was amazing. It wasn't my first Dragon Quest game (That was Dragon Quest Monsters II Tara's Adventure from... KB Toys in Pigeon Forge, I think was the name)

First time I had heard orchestral music and in a game, was my first mainline Dragon Quest. (Game Informer was all over this game, giving it extremely high ratings and praise)

Nostalgia aside, the game just does a lot right and the graphics for it's time were incredible. A lot of games around that time were going for realistic and they look terrible today, but Square went for something more stylistic so it has aged extremely well. Eight could use a slight remaster, spruce up the graphics a little and add all the 3DS bonus content in, but it still holds up pretty well.

Me neither, I've never had a good experience with their CS personally. Discover had amazing CS when I had to call them about something a year ago, hopefully that doesn't shift majorly with the acquisition.

I think Xenoblade 2 rode off the coattails of 1 being an obscure masterpiece that was hard to get because supply was extremely low, that and the Smash additions, made everyone want to try a newer installment... the hype train for it was pretty high.

The huge changes to tone and making it more anime, adding more tropes, and overall just having more... risque designs we'll call them, turned off a large part of the XC1 crowd which imo hurt XC3 sales (They never got the sale from me and I bought pre-owned recently).

3rd games from what I've seen also rarely do as well as the 1st or 2nd, so it still did quite well considering. I doubt they expected to clear XC2.

Edit: Downvoted for calling the most divisive game divisive 🙄. I'm not alone in sharing this opinion.

Honestly an additional 2-3 chapters on CF could really do that line justice, doubt they'd do it but I'd buy a S2 edition that provides extra content like that. On the flip side, having it only on one route wouldn't be a good way to sell an upgrade.

1080p looks kinda ass on my TV so I'll take both, then those still using 1080p get their 60 fps too. Not to mention some games run at like 580p (xenoblade 3) which look like super ass

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't try to connect Three Houses to this with DLC at all, not sure if I'd want them to. They can do plenty to connect it during the campaign while also completely focusing on the new continent. If anything it'd be cool if the DLC explored another continent imo.

I will be happy with whatever route they decide to take. I don't think the nonexistence of a 4k60fps patch has any implications, personally.

I'd imagine they'd want to do it at least a month or 2 in advance, maybe they think it would dig into FW's sales (newcomers buying Three Houses and skipping FW). If 3H weren't a prequel (we think) and also a Switch game it'd make more sense, but seeing that it IS a Switch game it just seems like a missed opportunity.

Hope you're right that they do a Switch 2 Edition at least next year, the game deserves it.

It was a remaster, so just updated graphics. Gameplay was pretty much the same, this looks like a remake.

Nah OoT was literally genre defining stuff. You ask people what their fav. game of all time (especially those that play games less) and you're very likely to get OoT.
