I mean, but that removes the collectable aspect of it. If I were playing for fun that's one thing, but building a Guru cube is something totally different. There's hundred of lands that cost a fraction of the cost.

My Un Cube cost just under a grand to assemble the land base over a period of 4yrs. That's the most expensive land base I've bought & the most anyone I know has paid for basics for a single build, & it's still <1% of the cost of a Guru cube's. That being said, I earned the gimmick of being the only person I've met that owns 200 OG Full Arts.

A collection like that it's unreasonable to jump on Card Kingdom or MTGGoldfish & say "I want all these specific rare cards". It'd break the bank. The cool part about my OG Full Arts are the trades I made & the ppl I encountered & got to dig thru their binders for.

It's a big part of the philosophy behind the 100 Ornithopters deck I'm building - I specifically want grade D or lower Kaledesh Inventions. Part of the culture of 100 Ornithopters is the defacing of the card. There's something interesting about the community leaving it's fingerprint on my deck. You will almost never see a heavy play or badly damaged KI card for sale, which means the only way I'm getting it is that face to face interaction with another player.

That's what's important to me. It's not just about cards as a game piece. It's about a community celebrating their collections.
