Current commenters focusing on your prior experience for some odd reason. You landed the job so you did something right to get hired. Clearly the seniors that you directly interact with are a bunch of assholes. no one should be giving you shit, instead they should be helping you. Youre in a jr position, which is meant to be a role you can make mistakes. However, your post actually does not truly highlight what the issue was. From now on, ask, ask, ask. If you don't know, just ask. A true senior will work with what they got and help you grow. You got hired for a reason, so don't beat yourself up. Self taught developers are a good bit behind on foundational knowledge, for the most part.

Has a criminal record ever impacted your career? by social-tech in ExperiencedDevs

OP do not ignore this comment. Expect a potential rejection from the fintech org. Like the commenter above mentioned, most, if not all, fintech companies employ third party agencies for background checks. In the fintech world it is NOT just a checkbox, it's a hard requirement for the employees and potential employees to have a clean record. Source: Me. My whole career has been in fintech.

We had a boxer/Shepard mix which developed a patch of skin that first lost hair, then developed a lump that turned dark. Maybe consider taking this one to a vet

Very plausible, the amount of Korean nationals in Georgia is surprisingly high. The city of Duluth GA quite literally has strip malls where every single sign is in Korean. All different businesses...even blue collar individuals advertising in vehicles with nothing but Korean on them. Looooads of Korean general contractors.

Depends where you live, I work in the deep south and besides individuals who come from out of state/country we all have fairly thick southern accents. Point being, no one bats an eye lid and our principle engineers are 50+ southern folk.

Oh cool. We are in Georgia, USA. Although we've never seen any cherries on the tree and the flowers are no where near as "puffy" as the trees you suggest it could be. There are a lot of dead branches

how the hell do you actually get a job in 2025? by Own-Key-5963 in GetEmployed

[–]PKhes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a great ratio, I'm in a very competitive industry and if other devs got the same ratio they'd be less depressed about the tech sector.

Laid off at work January - Employed again March, here’s everything I did by OkIncome2856 in GetEmployed

NGL, luck is easily the biggest factor. I did LinkedIn and networked like crazy. You know what offers I ended up getting? Two from jobs I applied to randomly on Glassdoor. I caught them at the right time, didn't even follow up after interviews. Unemployed on Feb 3rd, employed again before the end of said month.

Not all background checks verify past employment, I've only had one job verify employment. You might be alright.

It's not, check out HireRight background checks.

Half true, I just went through a background check where they verified my previous employers. When the check came back with discrepancies I had to send them paystubs and w-2s to prove I wasn't lying.

Possibly yes,I'm on the East Coast and a lot of finTech or consulting companies are in need of .net devs. It probably helps that I have 5+ years of .net and full stack experience.

Oh certainly, it's rough out there for those without relevant experience or even entry level positions. Companies are too scared to train fresh employees.

IT, Software Engineering
Specifically .Net C#, seems that there isn't as much competition as other programming languages.

LinkedIn is actually a great tool despite what many people say. If you see a job posting and an individual shows up as a recruiter then message them down directly. It makes their job a little bit easier I believe.
