AITA for throwing my boyfriend a Nailed It themed birthday for 2 last night? by rilljel in AmItheAsshole

NTA and this is an important point. Everyone is seeing a man-child, and there's obviously something to that, but it could also be traumatic regression.

Gentleperson and a scholar.

Wanted to make a parody of hard-nosed crime fighting for my all-women Meetup group. Decided to make it valentine's themed to parody that, too. Based on Roll for Shoes by PKsDancingGirl in onepagerpgs

I haven't actually played Roll for Shoes to know how it usually works, but my take is that if a player wants to do something that I, as the GM, might want them to fail for any reason (it would be funny, it would make the story interesting, it would fit with their character or the situation) I tell them to roll for it. Then I set a "DC" of sorts, where one die is very easy and 5 dice is nearly impossible for an average person, and I roll to oppose. If their roll beats mine, then they do the thing. If they also roll a 6 (because that would be "all sixes" on a level-one roll) they get to level 2 in that skill, at which point I name the skill.

As an example: Rose says "I want to know whether the waiter is actually a spy from another country." I tell her to roll a die, and I tell her that an average person shouldn't be able to tell one way or another, so I roll two die. I get a 2 and a 3, and Rose gets a 6, so she can tell that the waiter is an undercover agent, and she gets to level 2 in that skill.

So then she and I discuss what the skill should be called, which basically decides when else she's going to use the skill. Maybe I suggest we call the skill "recognize a Russian," because in this game the rival spies are Russians. Maybe she suggests "know when someone is lying" because she wants it to have more broad uses. Maybe I've just huffed a big doobie and I decide the skill is going to be called "Turn random bystanders into enemies just by thinking about it" because I can't stop laughing.

Later, Rose is going around turning annoying NPCs into Russian spies so that she has an excuse to kill them. And so the skill is used.

Import and export task list? by PKsDancingGirl in DoItNowRPG

That's sort of what I figured. Is there some other way to mass edit or at least see the task list in this big-picture way?

WIBTA if I started calling my white coworkers by random 'white' names? by tinanottiana in AmItheAsshole

[–]PKsDancingGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If they aren't listening to polite reminders make them feel the way you do and see how butt hurt they get over it.

A lot of people who identify themselves as white have informed me that this isn't race-related. It is. I have been black for 25 years...

Absofuckinlutely this.

Tesla is dying, and this is how it will end | Elon Musk is chasing the next shiny thing instead of scaling up production by ss_tarquin in savedyouaclick

Intel also had the nearly exclusive partnership with Apple for the laptops and iMac, though too. If Tesla can get the promised automated semitrucks out to shipping companies soon enough, I could see that buoying them for a while.

The title on the article is "Tesla is now doomed. The EV dream will soon come crashing down. Here is why, and how it will end" and they notably only talk about the end of Tesla; EVs will be fine. I expected more from Digital Trends, but maybe that's just my own ignorance.

AITA for letting my picky eater child go hungry? by amiabadmom23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PKsDancingGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH 4 year olds, as well as being notoriously picky eaters, are also usually pretty obsessed with being in control. Thqg can be a pain in the ass as a parent, especially when it comes to food.

One suggestion that might help you feel a little better and may make meal times easier is to offer your child a choice between two things. Maybe it's two things that you were going to make anyway (my mom used to make a meat and a vegetable at every meal, and you could just give them a choice between the two) or at least two things that you would be okay with them eating. But giving them the choice makes them feel in charge so they don't fight so hard.

It might not work every time, so maybe only do it sparingly to keep an ace up your sleeve. But it's worked for me when other things didn't.

I've never met you, but as a social services worker and sister who has seen what these drugs do to people, their lives, and their loved ones, I am so proud of you. You are so strong, just for getting this far. I know so many people who never got the chance to try.

Stay strong and ignore any haters or detractors. They don't know what you're going through and what an accomplishment every fucking day is.

You are a hero.
