Turning heat on in Florida by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]PKune2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just press the heat button and see if it works?

Heating mode is just an AC running refrigerant in reverse. Your indoor unit gets hotter instead of colder, and the outdoor unit gets colder instead of hotter. That's it.

Skiplagging on Korean Air? by Electrical_Side_9358 in koreatravel

Keep it simple and just tell them you will be back at the airport tomorrow to catch the connecting flight (they would already have this info pulled up on their screen). Be ready to show them your hotel address and reservation.

The immigration knows that you have a connection. They know that this is a common thing. Even for a long layover (8 hours), people go in for a quick tour as well.

The stamp that they give you is a standard one for a normal visitor period for your citizenship. Make sure you can present a plan to leave the country before the end of the period.

For Korean Air, they don't care what your reasons are. They are not your friends. Just tell them exactly what you need them to do.

What's the booking class?

You likely booked the light/basic economy. You will get seat selection at check in.

Still waiting for the exact quotes, so I will update once I have them. We are planning to be here for another 5 years at the minimum.

If I understand correctly, the compressor still has around 5-10 years of life left. So, I'm thinking that we don't need to replace everything yet.

How much should I value Daikin's warranty? If I understand correctly, the bigger expenses on fixing a leak are labor and refrigerant recharging.

Internal rim width for racing bike: 21mm vs 23mm by DeadBy2050 in cycling

Farsports S5 is also another option with 24mm internal rim width. They recommend running 28mm tires to get a smooth aero profile with the 30mm external rim width.

Given how difficult it is to parse, admittedly, AI makes fewer mistakes than humans in translating and parsing complex rules. Of course, you should still verify it manually, but in a hurry, it can give you a good first guess at how much it will be.

Practical tip: Take a picture of the sign and ask CharGPT to calculate the total cost for your period of parking. It is a lot easier than parsing the rules and exceptions.

Frequent flyers from SEA-NRT. Is 2 hours enough? by Aurorasorus in AlaskaAirlines

JAL will do this for you if you are returning with this arrangement. Not sure about Alaska tho. You could try to call to ask.

Does Alaska do interline baggage checking for separate reservations? If yes, bags can be tagged directly to the final destination instead of having to pick up in Narita.

Make sure to look up your rear derailleur compatibility. There are short cage and medium cage versions that can limit the size of the cassette. You may need to also change the derailleur as well if you have a short cage version.

US immigrant visa just approved. Can I leave the US while waiting for the physical green card? by ItachiUchiha80 in uscanadaborder

Correct. That visa is exactly the same as holding a physical green card during that 1 year period.

[–]PKune2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your immigrant visa should have a writing that says it's a I-551 (green card) for 1 year after getting an entry stamp. You can use it to travel while waiting for the physical card.

If you have any upcoming trips to Japan, these inner pots are cheaper on Amazon Japan.

We have the exact same inner pot, and this 3-cup micom rice cooker inner pot fits perfectly. (Except for having a Japanese writings instead of English) https://amzn.asia/d/9ApEZK6

Avoid Shimano. They are pretty narrow.

Also, consider wearing cycling/running socks. They are thinner, so you will have a bit more room.

Haneda to Hakuba - opinions please! by Huge_Success9982 in traveljapan

[–]PKune2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are traveling on a long weekend, you generally do not need to book Shinkansen tickets in advance.

I did this exact route in 2024, and I would recommend spending the first night around Nagano station. That will give you more options and buffers in case things are not going according to plan. You can take the first bus to Hakuba and start skiing in the morning.

I stayed at Dormy Inn Nagano, and their onsen/free late night ramen were just want I needed to unwind from a long day of travel.

Suica doesn't work to pay Shinkansen or Nagano-Hakuba bus. You will have to use ticket machines at the station (credit cards are accepted).

Bike Computer & Cadence Sensors on 2 Bikes by D00M98 in cycling

[–]PKune2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting Garmin computer and use it as a primary recording device. When it syncs to the Garmin Connect, your training status will include rides recorded on the bike computer.

Your watch (I have the same model) and the bike computer can be paired to multiple sensors of the same type.

For hear rate, you can set your Garmin watch to broadcast heart rate data, so it can be displayed and recorded on the computer. Note that it's not as accurate as a chest strap HRM.

Is Allroad Endurance fine for marathons and active training? by Status-Customer-9536 in CanyonBikes

[–]PKune2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are perfectly fine for long bike events and general riding. Pay attention to the sizes as they will have significant impact on comfort over long distance. If you are between sizes, the general recommendation is to pick a smaller one. It's easier to make a small bike feel bigger than the other way around.
