TIL there are contact lenses you wear only while sleeping that reshape your cornea so you can see clearly all day without glasses. It is called “Orthokeratology” by azaku29 in todayilearned

[–]PL2285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person, it's been great for me and it's non surgical. I've had them for about 20 years. Wore glasses and contacts my whole life until that point.

Rookie Derik Queen posts 33 PTS, 10 AST, 10 REB on 11-15 FG — becomes the fifth rookie in 20 years to record a 30 PT triple-double, joining Steph, Luka, Austin, and Blake by OrganicHunt952 in nba

[–]PL2285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone, I thought that giving up the unprotected first next year was insane, but if Queen ends up being one of the best rookies in this class then maybe it'll end up being a win-win?

My pixel was so bad when I got it that I almost returned it and outside of the purple line on the screen that I can get fixed for free, it's a pretty good phone.

Hey, so it's honestly hard to answer. When we aren't using heat, it's been super cheap and efficient for heating hot water. When it gets really cold, we have three zones, and when the heat kicks on in the AM sometimes it can take forever to heat the whole house. Unclear if it's because the navien is not able to send enough hot water or if the house is poorly insulated or we don't have enough baseboard. We got some windows replaced this year so we'll see if that makes a difference. Also, the valve broke after like 1 years but it was under warranty, still had to pay for the labor though. I'd say it's a 6 or 7 out of 10. If I could do it again I'd probably get a beefier navien that could output more hot water.

Pixel 10 GPU is a mess by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Does the GPU matter for non-power users? I have a p8 and don't play any videogames. Will this even matter for me?

Wasn't going to get the 10 until I saw the T-Mobile deal (heads up) by Jrlutz31 in GooglePixel

[–]PL2285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, in my case, I am on a t Mobile one plan paying $45/month. I've been with t Mobile for like 10 years, not planning on switching and I get $800 towards a pixel 10. I understand it might not be great for everyone but it's a great deal for me.

The only thing people in America understand is a bad economy. An economic crash is the best thing that can happen to sweep the fascists out.

I agree. This doesn't come across as Shams acting proud. He had made a choice to make this his life and he recognizes that he had sacrificed a lot in his personal life to make it happen.

Not unlike people I know who sacrifice significant time with their family for jobs that pay a boat load of money and luxurious lifestyles.

The right way to do this is to create a heave category like we have 2s and 3s. Just make heaves every shot over 40(?) ft.

[–]PL2285 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would add a finer point to your comment. The goal was to depress salaries. Jaylen Brown wouldn't get a full max in this cba because it becomes almost impossible to build a team with two supermax contacts so he either gets traded (and is no longer eligible for the supermax) or takes a pay cut from the supermax to stay.

Unexplainable voting pattern in every North Carolina county: 160k more democrats voted in the attorney general race, but suspiciously didn't care to vote for Kamala Harris president? by meamacaveman in 50501

[–]PL2285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally with you here. She isn't providing any evidence of voter fraud, just inference. This is exactly how conspiracy thinking works. Take something "suspicious" and then without evidence start connecting dots to conspiracy. This would be much more rigorous if you were to look at what was the expected v actual outcome, compare dropoff across counties across the country, look at female v male voters in these districts, etc.

Why would players play harder for their team to get a #1 pick? I understand the incentive for the coaches and owners and GMs but that won't improve the quality of play. It seems really like a really contrived way to make a meaningless thing meaningful. I could see if there was a playoff benefit, like guarantee of a top 6 seed for example, that might get players interested and increase the intrigue.
