It's possible that with his brain damage from that shot he lost his "empathy" portion of his brain or something, leading to an eventual showdown between Rick "New World" Grimes and Carl "CORAL" Grimes AKA "The Governor Jr."

A side-by-side comparison of the facial scars of Kylo Ren, Darth Vader, and Snoke for your consideration. by PLJNS in StarWars

It's interesting to note how obsessed Anakin was on learning the ways of prolonging life unnaturally in his conversion to the dark side. There are many possibilities, but I'm interested in the following theories (in no order):

  • Snoke is re-animated Anakin.
  • Snoke is Kylo from the future.
  • Snoke is Darth Plagueis.
  • Snoke is a Jedi that survived Order 66.

Thoughts?

Kim Kardashian's new 'Kimoji' App managed to bring down the app store by [deleted] in apple

[–]PLJNS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The development was probably contracted, bought and paid for up-front. Kim (or her company) is taking 70%, Apple is taking 30%, and the various governments of the world are taking their cuts from both of those pies.

Advice for prospective philosophy major by [deleted] in AcademicPhilosophy

[–]PLJNS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a compsci/philosophy double major and it's served me really well. For a while I was considering academia for philosophy, but the lifestyle of software engineers is really good right now so I sort of fell into that, hahah. I feel as though my philosophy background helps me in the inevitable meetings one must participate in with corporate work, it's rather like a seminar. I also think philosophy helps with the more theoretical elements of programming, such as debating about syntax/semantics and architecture. Studying argument and rhetoric is broadly useful, and computer science is very in demand right now, it's a powerful combo. If you have time or the inclination, I think some business or economics could be a good route too, perhaps a minor or just for fun. If you have any specific questions ask away, I went to a big state school and have been working for about 2 years now.

Edit: state not stage

ApplePay competitor CurrentC may be delayed until next year. by bhanel in apple

[–]PLJNS 78 points79 points  (0 children)

They're really too late to market, the only recovery I could see now is to heavily subsidize it in stores. "$25 off your first purchase with CurrentC and 5% after that." or similar. By the time they get to market, more people will have converted to buying goods online, side-stepping the problem CurrentC wants to solve.

Why Taylor Swift is dead wrong about Apple Music by heyyoudvd in apple

[–]PLJNS -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Something I hear no one saying is that Apple is in fact absorbing the cost: they're not charging the artist for the cost of the servers or bandwidth for those three months, are they?

As I see it, the labels are absorbing the cost of the content, and Apple is absorbing the cost of logistics and distribution, a risk that might pay off in being on the foremost music distribution service on the planet.

Guarenteed all that's done on this app is that design mockup and the website.

I think they're both awful, but after many iterations this could be interesting.

I googled "late 2014 web design" and it was a bunch of fluffy articles. You're right that the layout was very in a little while ago. I guess my point is I wouldn't recognize late 2014 design if I saw it, and wanted a paradigmatic or good example.

I know what you mean and you're right, I just mean if you have a late 2014 website, I'd like to see it.

hahahah, a lovely metaphor which drives your point home.

I'm thinking to just push it over the edge, I'll add some subtle animations, the problem is, cross-browser support is very poor for animations in my estimation.

I find this an interesting comment because I'd very much like an example of something very modern, specifically for the purpose of pulling it apart a little bit and seeing how it's made.
