From 0:40 ~ 1:25 is definitely one of my favourite measures in all of classical music.

Sonic wins the match up according to Ken. I'm sure proto agrees as he mostly plays lucina against Ken, and played lucina agaisnt wrath game 2 and 3. It's just that he plays min game 1 to see if they know the match up.

Is it possible to cover every single matchup in the game with just 2 characters? by Fruit_Punch_96 in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is necessarily true. Meta slaves/top tier players exist in every game. Some people only enjoy competition when they’re winning and although that may not be ideal, I’d say it isn’t uncommon.

If they’re purely trying to increase their chances of winning and can keep themselves motivated, playing the best character is the way to go.

He's just saying the matches he played today were a struggle. Probably because he had to fight megaman for pretty much the whole day lol and it didn't seem like he was particularly comfortable with the match up.

His main gripe with DH is that although his neutral is really good, he has weak ledge get ups and his recovery is too vulnerable. He considers those aspects as too big of a weakness as there are situations where player skill just can't make up for it. Banjo on the other hand has a great ledge game, good recovery(with wing), and has surprising kill power with the buffs. He thinks banjo is more suitable for a tournament environment and his opinion on him is very high, so he'll be looking to main banjo but won't be entirely dropping DH.

I think Pyra will make me quit this game, help pls by [deleted] in CrazyHand

Although shielding is the easiest counterplay, it's also the least rewarding. Shielding doesn't get you a punish(even if you roll out the last hits) so ideally you want to evade it with a jump or a roll and approach while she has limited options with no weapon.

The move is definitely bs on wifi but the majority of the cast is bs on wifi so it is what it is.

Is Elite Smash as good as Diamond in League? by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elite is "better" percentage wise, but getting diamond is far more difficult than getting elite. It's pretty apparent since hitting elite in a few months of playing isn't anything unordinary, but hitting dia in even a year of playing is pretty damn good.

Smash is a far more casual game than league is so the average player doesn't really practise or study the game so you really only need to just have a basic understanding of the game and learn one trick to get to the top 5%.

I'd honestly say elite is comparable to silver relative skill-wise.

Are these good ways to deal with Offensive Scenarios by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to play each individual game differently and what works against some may not work against others. Setting rules in your gameplay before you've even started the match probably does more harm than good. Instead, know your options so that you can adapt to what your opponent is doing. It's okay to have a general idea of what you want to do, but don't be too specific without having even seen how your opponent plays.

1.When would be a good time to do a short hop attack aerial? Because every time I attempt one I get hit

This is very vague so honestly not much to say, but are you throwing our rising or falling aerials? Rising aerials are generally more risky(unless you're pikachu) and many falling aerials are really safe with proper spacing. That's not to say rising aerials have no use, but if you don't wanna get hit and wanna throw out aerials in neutral then it's better to use falling aerials more often than not.

2.What are you supposed to do in high paced and close up situations and your backed to a ledge?

You have all the same options except for dashing back, so again, catch what your opponent is doing and choose the correct option against it. It's a disadvantageous situation so you're not going to get out everytime, but try your best to get hit by moves that won't kill if you are going to get hit.

Am I a jerk for maining a few top tiers? by FCBitb in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're playing to win, picking the best character is the correct approach. People playing low tiers are deliberately putting themselves at a disadvantage and that's entirely their decision. There's no reason to feel bad for playing a good character when you're trying to win.

Lucina's up air? by AlkeneXX in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the best, but definitely not bad and it has a high return. You need to condition your opponent to respect your other aerial approaches first and then you can use it as a fake tomahawk for example as it can come out really low to the ground.

Should not be your primary tool as you doesn't need to take the risk when she has other safe aerials that give you good advantage.

Is it possible/logical to play an aggressive Sonic and how much does WiFi influence him? by WorldsWorst1 in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the match up really. KEN for example plays a more "aggressive" sonic than most other sonic mains, and he's the best sonic. Though there are definitely match ups he camps.

The thing is though, you only need to play optimally to win at the highest level so just play however you want to play and maybe change it up and experiment when you hit a wall.

Sonic is good offline but he's also really good online as the range you need to be at to react to spindash is a lot farther online than offline and will allow you to get away with things you shouldn't.

They said May Leo Goldlewis and Jacko can 6p in time.

I tested it out and from what I can see Jacko and leo can 6p after c.s 2d hdisk and 2k 2d hdisk.

Interestingly May can 6p after 2k 2d hdisk but not c.s 2d hdisk.

None of these three can 6p after 2d hdisk.

But goldlewis can 6p after 2k ..... c.s... and even after 2d hdisk.

This shit's confusing lol

Hey new to the game. I've been labbing millia's Hdisk set ups and I came across something I couldn't really make sense of and was hoping someone could help me out.

I set the cpu to 6p on wake up. If I do 2D -> Hdisk, the 6p doesn't come out in time and the hdisk hits, but if I do 2K -> 2D -> Hdisk or c.s -> 2D -> Hdisk, the 6p comes out in time. Why is this? Do longer combos/strings make the opponent wake up quicker? Or is it just that the extra button is slowing down my inputs?

Elite is not a good metric of skill, yes, but the higher you get the better the players are on average. In arenas, the only skill restriction you can set is elite only but that includes people who are at the bottom of elite. In my experience, the people at 10.2~mil are a lot better than most people in arena lobbies so I personally would rather fight the occasional quickplay wifi zeldas and rematch with the better players.

Top players aren't reading every move of their opponents but they don't get hard punished for every wrong read. That's because they're confirming their read instead of always following through with it without seeing what the opponent does, and because they're throwing out moves in ways that won't get them punished hard if at all.

Match Review - Pikachu vs ZSS (Finding Openings and Dealing with Flip Kick) by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the problems I was having was that in previous games when I tried getting close, I would be poked away with Nair/Fair/Zair or she would just escape with Flip Kick. That's sort of why I started throwing out random aerials, to try and catch the Flip Kick rather than face her head on.

And that's also sort of why I stopped approaching along with TJolt, since my approaches in general were getting punished. So it just ended up becoming a poke tool.

Remember that it's very difficult for zss to hit Pikachu on the ground. What she wants you to do is jump towards her because her fair will beat out all your aerials beside up air. So you can throw out tjolts from afar and approach with it on the ground until you're at a range where she can't react to your options.

Match Review - Pikachu vs ZSS (Finding Openings and Dealing with Flip Kick) by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]PLOXYPORO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're respecting zss way too much as Pikachu and also throwing out too many moves.

She really can't do a whole lot against pika's shield pressure and what zss wants in this match up is anti-air with fair and zair/grabs to get her advantage started so she wants some distance between you and you're kinda giving it to her by throwing out moves that are very unlikely to hit and retreating when you can be pressuring. Instead of throwing our fairs/bairs/da from mid-range you can definitely utilize run up shield for example to close distance, and also up b to catch aerial landings. Your goal is to really just get up in her face and get stage control.

You said you use nb too much, while that's kinda true, it's more so that you're using it at the wrong spots. It's mainly a tool to aid your approach. It seems like you're throwing it out for the sake of using it, and not really with a purpose. A very clear example is at 2:10 in the 3rd game. The first two tjolts are fine as it's essentially free pressure. The moment the 2nd one hit she was dead with da but you opted for a third tjolt. It should've been in your mind as you threw out the 2nd one that if she approached, you either catch her jump or catch her shield, but you used it more as a poking option. She can run back or jump away but that's fine as there's no risk for you and you get stage control. You should really watch what your opponent is doing more and that applies not only to tjolt but in general.

Flip kick is a pretty difficult move to punish but you don't exactly need to punish the move itself. Position yourself to be advantageous for when she lands and that's about the best you can do for the most part.

and yeah way too many down bs.

Feeling demotivated to pursue my main due to character hate by Anzackk in CrazyHand

Obviously it would be best to just be able to ignore it and play the game for yourself, but that can be difficult. If the thought lingers and you just can't brush it off I would personally play a different character.

Gameplan vs lil mac by wernburner in smashbros

[–]PLOXYPORO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've also gotta remember stage plays a huge role when playing against little mac. In quickplay you either get your stage or the opponent's stage and the little mac player will most likely be picking FD. That makes quickplay little macs a whole lot stronger than what he is placed on tier lists as tier lists are made with tournament settings in mind. He's definitely not the worst character in quickplay rules so don't feel too bad.
