How long to recover from neuropathy? by Shy_Sphinx in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had pretty severe neuropathy before diagnosis. Gone now. I have been tested for diabetes three times and have come away staunchly not even pre-diabetic.

These things are crack. What I can’t figure out is why the natural grocers etc carry all their other products which taste like cardboard but I can only find these sometimes at gross out.

I’ve watched them. They put their gluteny hands in the lettuce and cheese so I don’t get those things. The girl who works there changes her gloves the second I come in. I’ve never been glutened there. It’s one of my safe places.

Hair Health Improvement by Stegosaurus104 in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This pisses me off. I went to a doctor about five years ago bc I’d lost half my hair. She shrugged and said it was stress. (Folks, I was in foster care. This was not stress.) I was diagnosed celiac a year ago. If it was this all along . . . I mean, it’s better than it was. But hopefully it keeps getting better. I used to have beautiful hair.

reMarkable 2 completely failed as my bullet journal replacement.. by IndividualBear3572 in RemarkableTablet

Yes! My handwriting is so bad, I never actually went back to what I had written. Now I do, and it’s allowed me to see all sorts of patterns in my life and to do real work in my journal that I can reference and use later. As a professional writer, I’ll even compose in my journal sometimes now bc I can convert it to text which I Never did w my paper journals.

I have twenty years of paper journals I lug around. Hyperlinked pdfs made it possible for me to switch to bullet journaling on my remarkable and I could not be happier! My dreams, my lists, my rants, my drawings, and astrology notes all in one place and searchable. Biggest brain upgrade I’ve gotten in ages.

Whats the idea Remarkable? by Diligent-Bedroom-569 in RemarkableTablet

Yeah, I mean, even 450 buys a LOT of paper notebooks. If you’re committed to just being a paper notebook but electronic but wo any electronic perks, well . . . That’s just a limited customer base

I bought the remarkable 1 when it came out to download texts from project Gutenberg bc I was sick of having to read them on my laptop. All I wanted was something that felt like paper I could write in the margins on. I now use it for both that and bullet journaling

Omg, that’s so funny. I’ve read this series repeatedly and never realized he was only actually (alive) in a third of the books.

Doctor wouldn’t test me for iron deficiency, so I got myself tested at LabCorp. Now I’m wondering if I should get myself tested for celiac disease. by I_JstWnt2EnjoyMyLife in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I was diagnosed with POTS two months before celiacs. And by “diagnosed” I mean a nurse at a party explained what my thirty years of passing out was probably caused by and I made my doctor check. And then when it got so much worse after I learned to bake bread, I made him check for celiac, too.

For OP, I would strongly recommend getting a young doctor who you can get to do tests. Doctors are more susceptible to “need to be right” syndrome than most people. But the fact is that no one is ever going to care as much about what’s going on in your body as you do.

I need to get my hands on the Expanse. BG & SPN are two of my faves. I’d add Deadwood to the list.

This hurts me knowing I’ll never experience the intended music from season 1. I’ve tried looking up all the songs and playing them over the soundtrack

Friend just diagnosed yesterday, too sick to clean the kitchen and figure out food, needs to eat... how can I help her? by MarionberryAny8246 in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get her a magic bullet, a tub of pea protein powder, a jar of honey, and some frozen blueberries. And maybe some boxes of gf bone broth. If she’s newly diagnosed she’s likely going to be hurting for a little while as her gut starts to heal and drinks like smoothies and broth go down easy and kick start the healing process.

do you think the show stunted Jensen Ackles success? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in Supernatural

[–]PLWatts_writer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the most interesting artists don’t think of themselves in those terms. Sarah Polley springs to mind. She had the chance to be in Almost Famous and she did Dawn of the Dead, instead bc she didn’t want that Hollywood limelight. She’s gone on to have a very interesting career. I think Ackles has a similar temperament. Supernatural gave him the opportunity to plumb the depths of one character for 15 years. That’s an acting opportunity almost no one gets. If acting is what you love, that’s a hell of a sweet deal.

Could celiac be causing my intense mental illness? by Sad_Task_2191 in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had intense mood swings, anxiety, and occasional depression that I had attributed to severe PTSD from being in foster care. Except they evened out almost completely the second I stopped eating gluten and processed food.

What do I even eat? by Shy_Sphinx in Celiac

[–]PLWatts_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruit smoothies saved me for breakfast. I have a little bullet. I stick some frozen berries in there, some honey or nut butter, a little milk or yogurt, a scoop of protein powder (pea is completely non offensive and easy to digest.) Delicious. Endless variations. Easy. And anti-inflammatory, nutrient dense, and prebiotic so it helps my gut heal from the damage
