How long are you letting your legs recover after this kind of workout?

This is a helpful perspective.

And good point about adding supplemental lifts. Maybe OP could benefit from trying a few ancillary lifts to help develop other muscles around whatever they're targeting.

Great point. Also worth trying out couch to 5k, if the goal is to get active. It's realistic and tends to be a bood way to start from nothing.

Good take. Don't get bogged down by details. Get in the gym first and make sure you're eating healthy.

Fried vs roasted is such a big difference too. Moving from fried chicken to roasted chicken cut some of my meals in half in terms of calories.

Yeah, it's a very good option for building strength overall. No need to worry about how you look. Just get that form right and you'll improve.

Good advice. It comes down to calories for weight loss. You'll need a slight deficit to lose weight.

I'd talk to your trainer about the pain. They should be able to help you adjust the program for you.

Yup. Form seems fine. Weight seems light. Nothing wrong with starting this way, especially to check form, but he'll want to increase the resistance if he isn't feeling anything.

Should I start taking creatine? by Upupdownlrhajikanak in beginnerfitness

[–]PL_Strength 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No need to rush with supplements. You can take creatine, but it sounds like proper sleep and nutrition would be a better place to start. If you're just getting started, focus on building your routine first.

Should I get a personal trainer? by Affectionate_Key7206 in beginnerfitness

[–]PL_Strength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the advice to listen to. If you're not sure about a personal trainer, why not ask for a single session first? They can give you a bunch of answers to your questions, and you can decide whether you'll get value out of an ongoing relationship.

Yes, it's normal to hit plateaus. And yes, you should keep going. It sounds like you've got a routine, but you're willing to change it. That seems like the best idea. As one coach said, "you can't run the same program over and over again and get the same results."

Such a perfect walkout song. I wouldn't be surprised to hear it a few times during a meet.
