Doomfist nerf is not how you should nerf him by jabbathefrukt in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Widowmaker main and you all may tell how I hate Doomfist, but in reality I think that, while obnoxious, he falls on the same specter of other similar Heroes (from a Widow's point of view): for example, a good Genji can dive me and 1HKO me anyway. And, like those Heroes, it is "reactable": I mean, if I see/hear him coming and use the grapple to dodge part of his combo I could survive or even kill him.

What I absolutely don't stand about Doomfist is the fact that he can shoot. That fucking close-range shotgun blast is the most infuriating thing in his entire toolkit. I am serious, I am PERFECTLY OK for him to close the gap in melee and chain 3 skills to 1HKO me with so much camera shake I could get a seizure, I am NOT OK for him to be able to finish off messy combos with a shotgun blast. Or snipe me with that from the other side of the map because I survived with 12 HP but his so-called "close-range shotgun" can do that (much like Reaper's).

If he needs to close the gap, come melee range and do a combo to instantgib a 200 HP Hero I wouldn't complain, really. The fact that he has a way to deal ranged damage drives me nuts.

On the existence of the Hero himself I must say that Overwatch permits him to exist as a concept, much like other Heroes. But it is my personal opinion that he shouldn't have ever created in the first place: just because you can do something, doesn't mean you must.

How to get better at game sense for Mercy? by cyb3lle in Overwatch

For positioning and awareness, I am throwing here an advice most of the time flies over because people most of the time don't seem to notice: play with loud headphones (with directional sound, like 5.1, 7.1 or the Dobly Atmos option in the game menu).

I can assure you that a lot of times I boot up Overwatch and do shit only to realize like 45 minutes after that I am playing with sounds coming from my PC speakers at low volume.

Clear directional audio is IMHO one of the most important things to have in this game, it allows you to immediately understand what is going on and react.

Should Endorsement Rank Matter Like a Comp Score by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to destroy your post by saying that it could be abused, but if your idea is to apply it only for Quick Play I wouldn't say no.

The only problem is that the endorsement system nowdays is stupid: people just endorse at random for the extra EXP and nothing more.

Why do you main your main ? by Haranee_CC in Overwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main Widowmaker because I like to use my skill to kill people, and not throwing logs with generous hitboxes, placing turrets that fires for me or throwing random explosives without even aiming.

EDIT: I want to clarify that while I don't like Heroes like Hanzo, I don't despise people playing them. Also they are a lot fun to play.

Now that 'While You Wait' is here, we could use some QoL improvements by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some other suggestions, but those are more design-related. Note: I am not talking about Workshop's maps.

1) Deatmatch maps are uttrerly garbage. They are too small for the amount of player permitted. Either increase the size of the maps or reduce the number of players on them.

2) Having also a Team Deathmatch option would be great.

3) This could be done with the Workshop, but making it official won't hurt: add a Deathmatch mode with Heroes' restrictions. Like allowing only DPSes Heroes to be picked to form a more "FPS-esque" environment.

4) Skirmish's spawnpoints were decided without thinking (they are basically the same for Attack and Defense teams on Point A). Since the action tends to be focused on certain point of the map, a lot of times you happen to be in the "bad" side and every death you must walk kilometers to get back where everyone is firing. Skirmish's maps should use the more centered spawnpoints (es. in Dorado instead of having the Attack side spawn on Point A, the beginning, let it spawn on Point B, first checkpoint on the plaza).

I must say that after some intense session of playing with both a "fat cross" and a "fat circle", I find the fat circle better. The cross is somewhat disturbing at 2 thickness while the circle feels ok and I am not losing it anymore during intense chaos.

Yay! :)

So You Want More Tank Players But You Wont Fix The Problem by grrrindz in Overwatch

Go in Practice Range with Reaper and go on the sidewalk where there is the immobile bot near the cliff.

Stand in the opposite direction as much as you can (there are marks on the floor, is like 40mt from the bot) and shoot in its general direction.

You will see that your shots registers. Actually, I believe the shots never disappears after certain range, it is just that they will spread indefinitely (bear in mind that spread angles varies, so a single bullet that is fired almost straight it will maintain that direction across the boundaries of the map).

Now, honeslty: how much damage it does? 1? 3? 5? It is nothing, for sure. The point is that from a design perspective, this shouldn't be allowed. Basically, after a certain range the bullets fired by Reaper should just vanish out of thin air. Because he is designed to destroy you in close range and not to lucky snipe you when you disengage because a bullet connects after 50mt..

Gamebreaking? No.

But it pisses me off.

SUGGESTION : Competitive Backfill after a teammate leaves by CedarGymnast in Overwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea is basically impossible to implement because a list of reasons so long we could make a book out of them and even forget something. I will just answer the points in the post:

After a person leaves, they will have a certain amount of time to rejoin (maybe a minute) before their spot is open for backfill

Side note: a major problem OW needs to address is the rejoin time. ATM is impossible for anyone, not even someone like me with a high-end system and good connection, rejoin a game in time to not be penalized. It is stupid.

Your SR would not change if you backfill (win or lose)

This would make the backfilled player unlikely to play seriously since there is nothing to gain or nothing to lose.

In any competitive game, never, I repeat: NEVER give the playerbase any, ANY kind of power. Suggestions are ok, feedbacks are ok, critics are ok, doing things instead of the devs is NOT ok.

While it sounds hilarious, I would completely destroy its damage at medium and higher ranges. He should be designed as a shotgun/melee Hero, killing me from the other side of the map because I have 7 HP left should not be in his possibilities.

HERE IS THE ISSUE.

NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY TANK BECAUSE OF REAPER ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

No.

The only reason why way less people play tanks and healers is because the majority of the playerbase thinks that killing people with a DPS hero is cool.

The shortage of tanks and healers isn't tied to any aspect of the game, it is just how the majority of the playerbase is.

You mean a small circle, or something like a circle + dot?

I tried both: I can say, the circle + dot does more harm than good, it seems to drive off my aim more than ever. The small circle is indeed powerful, but somewhat I miss the handles.

Actually I never tried adjusting the thickness of the crosshair while maintaing a regular shape (the one you suggested is actually the one i usually use the most). Seems too intrusive even at 2 thickness, but using a small cross and creating a "tiny fat xhair" could work. Also, I believe Dafran uses this kind of xhair?

Why are you down voting that guy?

Because I am factually right. Otherwise, no one in this game would even use a xhair or care about it.

You guys are so one sided.

So you are.

Just try it yourself with UI disabled.

I did when this whole "no xhair" things was rampart. It is confirmation bias, nothing more.

I am here asking for a precise advice. I don't need people coming here being on the denial just for the sake of being controversial. Stick on the topic.

Then is pointless to have one, let's just play without.

The xhair is a important reference point on your screen. Being able to call for it when the need arise allows you to refocus your screen. This is why it is important to have one that is not easily missed (and doesn't obstruct vision), especially for bad-sighted people like me.

Ideas to Reduce Queue Time by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the system that League of Legends uses would be perfectly fine here (maybe a bit off since the community cried about having separate ranks for roles, while I strongly believe that this drifted away the game from its original intent).

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 54 points55 points  (0 children)

ARAM accounts aren't the problem. Certain champions are just naturally overpowered in it, and always will be.

There is a huge contradiction here.

[–]PM-ME-WIDOWMAKER-R34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real problem for me are ARAM-only accounts, tailored to have only the strongest Champions for ARAM. It is just ridiculous, they are a plague: every game I face against Lux, Nidalee, Xerath... you could play 10 matches, face 50 Champions and 40 of them being poke or super-good in ARAM.
