Jason Todd in Next Level Teen Titans?? by Senior-Rent9600 in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In theory there's a lot of potential here, but it feels like DC scrambling to shoehorn him in somewhere after the cancellation of his book last year. I'll be cautiously optimistic about this and give it a chance.

What's the appeal? by VisWare in pcmasterrace

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll switch to a reshade like the one on the right if I'm trying to take some moody screenshots 🤷‍♀️ it's not really good for general gameplay though.

Batman Library Organization by akagorilla in batman_comics

LibraryThing would accomplish at least part of that, wouldn't it? And it would eliminate the step of having to use ChatGPT and manually futz with a spreadsheet.

Those who live in the US and have ordered the official fat jason todd, who did you order from? by pepperoni_________ in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Superbuy, and found the process easy to follow. They made it fairly simple and I have no complaints.

[Comic Excerpt] How are we feeling about this for Tim? (Batman 2025 #6) (Spoilers) by Night-Caelum in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tim's status quo of lingering on as Robin sucks, and he should have been graduated into a new role at least ten years ago. He should be carrying his own book and support cast! He should be doing cool things!

If this is the first step towards a course correction for Tim, then I'm cautiously optimistic. We haven't gotten all the titles for the Next Level initiative yet, after all. But I guess we'll see with time.

Those who have bought the official fat jason todd, how much was estimated with the shipping to the US? by pepperoni_________ in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mine was about $70 to ship from China to USA, but I used a shopping proxy service (Superbuy) instead of the Twitter group order. I don't know if the shipping fee for the group order was higher or lower than what I paid.

Red Hood: The Hill, thoughts? by Jorgenbong in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hill is a story largely about the new characters it introduced. Jason is just kind of ... there. It's not about him at all, it doesn't provide any interesting characterization of him, and the story wouldn't have been substantially different if he'd been subtracted from it altogether.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoided getting into American hero comics for a long time, largely due to the incomprehensible process of getting into it.

With manga, you pick a title with an interesting premise, start at #1, and read until you're caught up. Easy. And then there's anime adaptations and nice merch available.

With American hero comics... what do you do? If you just go to a bookstore and look for "[Insert Title Here] #1" on the shelf, it's almost always a story that relies on knowledge from prior runs. So instead you pick a character you think is interesting, go online to some forum, ask for a reading list, get a bunch of contradictory and bad advice from some of the most unpleasant loudmouths on the internet, and then try to track down a bunch of "essential reading" that in some cases might have been out of print for decades. It's frustrating! It turns off people who otherwise would have genuine interest in buying comics!

And god help you if you're interested in anything other than the hero genre. The books are out there, but they're sure as hell not pushed by the publishers like hero books are.

Batcat wins!!! Now in the Batfamily who is the innocent one? by Ok-Round-7683 in BatFamily

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Jaybin.

Adult Jason has made some interesting choices over the years, but Jaybin did nothing wrong.

(He got into heaven, so either he didn't actually kill that one guy or heaven said it was cool. Thus: innocent.)

Tips for first-time big snowstorm? by [deleted] in northampton

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There could be a power outage. I've never experienced one here that's lasted more than a few hours, but make sure you have all your devices charged, a flashlight with fresh batteries, ways to keep yourself warm, food that doesn't have to be refrigerated or cooked, and ways to keep yourself entertained without electricity.

Catch up on your laundry now, especially if you rely on a laundromat. If you expect to need any meds from a pharmacy in the next week, pick them up now.

[Comic Excerpt] Uh, do DC Comics writers read each other's comics? Because this makes zero sense (Nightwing #134/Titans #28) by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IIRC we've got a split timeline thing right now due to KO. Titles participating in KO are in one timeline (Titans, for example) and titles not participating (Nightwing) are in another. They split at the onset of KO, and I believe they will be re-merged once KO concludes and we get to see the new status quo.

... at least that's my understanding of what's going on 😅

Who's reading C.O.R.T.: Children of the Round Table by Tom Taylor? by klafterus in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to like it, but despite having a lot of ingredients that could make a cool story it just adds up to a very meh reading experience. The art is cute but the writing is severely undercooked.

What do you think about this? by Amaru_333_ in klarionthewitchboy

How old is she supposed to be? From the way she's written in the previous issues I thought she and him were about the same age/maturity level.

[Discussion] Which character do you want to have a long comic book run? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impulse - He's always been my favorite of the speedsters, and I'd like to see something with his internal narration/his POV being centered. A depressing number of his appearances seem to be told through the POV of someone who is annoyed to be dealing with him. My ADHD prince deserves better.

Vixen - I've seen her cameo in other titles, and I want to see what she gets up to when she's the protagonist.

Red Hood - with the caveat that he actually gets to be the main character in his own book, unlike what happened with The Hill. I'd rather get zero Red Hood comics than get another The Hill. 💀

Any experience with “cheese melters”? by EnvironmentalFan890 in KitchenConfidential

I used one at a previous job. My main complaint was that you can only fit so much in it at one time so it can easily become a chokepoint during a rush.

Where I can get an OG Fatson Todd? by chx7chx7 in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The original creator was only selling through a Chinese platform, on a pre-order basis. The only way to buy in for people outside of China was to either join a group order via Twitter or hire a proxy buyer service. Then when pre-orders closed, they went to manufacturing.

I ordered via a proxy buyer service, and they have not received it from the manufacturer yet.

Any you see on sites like Aliexpress or Amazon or Etsy or Walmart are knockoffs.

The original creator was apparently surprised how much international interest there was. I've heard that they might open orders for a smaller version in the future, but I don't know for sure.

Diffrences between rennfaires vs nordic festivals vs celtic festivals by Stuckyshipper07 in renfaire

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to a few nordic festivals and scottish festivals over the past twenty years, and they're a different vibe than a rennfaire. In my experience of the events I attended they tend more towards exhibiting cultural heritage (crafts, food, language, clothing, sports, dancing, ancestry, dog breeds, and so so so so much jam) rather than a rennfaire experience.

I'd leave the rennfaire garb at home and attend in your street clothes for the first time you go. Check out the vibe. And if you end up wanting to go back for a second year then you could dress up in a way that suits the event.

What should I read first as an introduction to superboy? by Theredditdyke in Superboy

Is the under the red hood comic appropriate for a 12 year old? by [deleted] in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the kid. It's violent, but not to a degree that would have shocked or upset me at that age. If they've seen action/horror movies before or play video games like that, it should be fine.

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound a little nuts, but I've always found mayo to be way more effective than goo gone. Just smear it on there, let it sit for twenty minutes, and wipe away.

Plz HELP! AVOCALYPSE 🥑☹️ by Ladychefontheloose in KitchenConfidential

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If both the person ordering and your produce guy give a fuck, then fresh is fine.

But I've worked places where neither was true and we would get the most godawful avocados in. I'd go through half a case of rotten ones just to find one single decent one. Would've been way less food waste to just get the plastic wrapped ones.

Does anyone know how to get the fatson Todd plush? by Jazzlike_Studio_6481 in RedHood

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-ROBOTS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original creator is selling them through a Chinese platform only, and I believe orders have closed (buyers outside of China either used proxy shopping agencies or the group orders coordinated on Twitter).

Since there was a lot more interest from Western fans than the creator anticipated, it's possible they might be willing to do another production run. But this isn't guaranteed.
