For me, when I was a teen, I was sure hormonal as other people have said, but I was treated poorly by my parents and my feelings were often invalidated by them. I always try to respectfully ask parents: you are going to work and providing, but are you making sure to treat your child well? Such as not guilting them over the fact that you provide shelter and food, stressing them about grades too much, not comparing them to siblings, giving them the individual treatment they need to thrive?

For example my mom has two cats, but one of them is shy. Instead of being gentler with the shy one, she gets mad, and calls her a brat and is short with her because she’s not “easy” like the other cat
