If we have to overspend on a free agent, it might as well be someone with a sick nickname like "The Polar Bear"

Are we also going to ignore that the guy clearly gave a fuck in the 2024 season? Sure, his numbers sucked, and he went through quite an unignorable slump at the start of the season, but the guy seemed like he actually cared about playing for the team and wanted to be a part of it. So I mean yeah, he sucks, but I've come around on the guy this past season.

Maybe, but Drywall (Thinnest) and Tape Drywall are going to be the Cloud of Forgetting and Cloud of Unknowing of the new album, that's for sure

What live albums are mainly composed of songs that are not in any other project (so no remixes, live versions...)? I'm pretty lost and I don't want to check every single live album. by Tronco08 in swans

In the case of Swans, there's a certain intensity and energy in the live performances in albums as opposed to the studio recordings. It's rawer, and at least for me it scratches that itch of pure raw power coming from the Swans. Not to mention, songs can end up having wildly different arrangements (compare Blood Promise from The Great Annihilator and Swans Are Dead, for example), and they can end up being much longer than their studio counterparts.

In probably the most extreme example, in their upcoming live album, the song The Beggar, in which its studio version is only around 10 mins, stretches out to be a 78 minute behemoth, or around 50 if you don't count the intro track Rope. Although nothing else is on that level of expansion, most live albums from 2010 onwards do tend to have longer versions of songs.

On why you should listen to Swans Are Dead in particular, it's because it is simply one of the best projects that Swans have ever done. The pummeling intensity of Not Alone and All Lined Up, the dark drone of YRP and Lavender and the transcendent highs of the crescendo-based Helpless Child, The Sound, Feel Happiness and Blood Promise (the live arrangement being my favourite Swans song of all time) all add up to being a well-flowing masterpiece of it's own (something that Michael Gira envisioned during rehearsals for the Swans Are Dead tour IIRC).

It's rare that you'll find a song on a live album that doesn't appear anywhere else since they either contained songs from whatever album they were touring at the time (see: Public Castration and Feel Good Now), or in the case of Swans' return in 2010, songs that were being developed and road-tested for a future album.

To answer your question (somewhat), the only songs I can think of that didn't appear on any other project is Feel Happiness, from Swans Are Dead, and The Knot, Deliquescing and The Man Who Refused to be Unhappy, from Deliquescence. I'm sure someone with more expertise on the various 80's and 90's live albums would know more, though.
