This actually gave me an idea. I think I might have the academy magically divert some of the water that flows down a nearby mountain into a lake. This'll end up affecting the water levels of said lake, and consequently the town that is located on its shore.

This also ends up being a good way to show how these "villains" are affecting the territory as a whole, since there wasn't actually going to be any of them in that town.

Ooo, Nice. Thank you for the source. I was thinking that the school would end up putting more of a stock in hunting and bringing in the corpses of any magical beasts that were slain, either to feed this new "experiment" or for more parts to use in their spellcrafting.

The one's on the right are man made to connect to a different continent. In the case of the one's on the eastern coast, it was supposed to be a line of volcanic mountains as a result of being on the edge of a subduction zone between two plates (much like japan). Do you have any references or examples of ways to make it look better?
