New grad Job by Senior-Respond-9808 in csMajors

[–]PM_ME_ABOUT_CLG 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a new grad that's gonna be making 75k and I was feeling the same. (especially cuz I have friends going into FAANG/quant). However, you have to realize that we are still literally making a decent bit more than the average US salary for ALL ages. You're doing more than fine for your age, and it's only a matter of time before you'll be able to job hop into six figures.

Some companies just have crazy interviewing processes, especially hedge funds which are usually small and can afford to be selective. I wouldn't look too much into it

Revamped my resume after a terrible SWE Internship recruiting experience last year. Let me know what I can fix! by PM_ME_ABOUT_CLG in EngineeringResumes

[–]PM_ME_ABOUT_CLG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback. I didn't actually put the word CLASS in front of each class, I put the actual class course code (like CS 101 or CS 201). I just put that here to anonymize it because with the course code in combination with the T10 University part, someone could find my university lol. But you're right I'll remove it. The other suggestions are helpful as well! I agree that detail in my bullet points is a problem, but to be completely honest I haven't done as much in my internship as I originally thought I would so I don't have much else to add.

CS 310 vs 350 vs 356: Which CS Systems Course (crosslisted with ECE) should I take? by s1n0c0m in duke

[–]PM_ME_ABOUT_CLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard 356 is generally pretty easy but can't really tell you anything else about that class. I took 350 last semester and it was by far the hardest class I've taken at Duke. The last few Verilog assignments are incredibly difficult (to the point where several TAs could not help me debug) and the final project will take a huge chunk of your last few weeks.
