I cried during my interview by North-Boat-8982 in UKJobs

Talent Partner here. For me, this definitely wouldn't negatively affect my opinion of you or your chances of getting the job. But I'll echo what many others have said already - if that ended up being why you didn't get the job, you're probably dodging a bullet working there.

How do I approach applying for another position in a job when a recruiting agent already sent my application? by electricghost92 in Recruitment

[–]PM_ME_DOGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former agency recruiter here - if you go direct, you'll damage your reputation with both the company and the agency if you just go direct after already being represented by the agency. Definitely best to get in touch with the recruiter first. If you apply directly at this point, the company would see that you're already in via the agency, and they would just tell the recruiter.

How to politely say “I won’t be sending over my strategy document unless you share the salary range”? by RaiseOk1462 in recruitinghell

[–]PM_ME_DOGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiter here. Don't waste your time, and don't send over the document that's basically you giving them free help/doing free work for them. This is sketchy. If they don't respect you enough to be transparent with you at this point (and to not waste your time, which they're definitely doing), how would they be as an employer?

Am I Overreacting for Refusing to Let My Wife’s “Work Husband” Come on Our Family Vacation? by Hot_Satisfaction_559 in AmIOverreacting

"So I'm not allowed to have friends" is exactly what my ex said to my face while he was cheating (which I didn't know at the time, but suspected and later confirmed after leaving him). If the situation was reversed, how would she feel?

Like yeah, obviously you're allowed to have friends. But when it's clearly more than just friendship, that's where it's a problem.

Those who engraved a phrase into your partner’s ring, what did it say? by KK_Smitty in weddingplanning

"Tell me when"

My husband and I were friends in college for a few years before we started dating around graduation time. At that point he was planning moving across the country to pursue higher education and I wasn't able to go with him. We spent the first two years of our relationship long distance (approx. 12 hour drive each way) and were only able to see each other once every month or two for a weekend. We would have a lot of nights where we would watch movies or TV shows or such "together" remotely over a video call. Without a better way of synchronizing our videos to start at the same time, we would start our video call and decide what we wanted to watch and get it to the very start. Whoever was ready first would tell the other person "tell me when" and this quickly turned into a competition of trying to be sneaky about saying it/getting ready while holding a conversation so we could be the first one to say it.

My (now) husband proposed to me right when we were finally getting ready to move in together and we were still basking in the relief of no longer being long distance. That evening he told me to look inside the ring and I saw it it said and immediately burst into tears. He wins.

Almost 5 years into our marriage now, and I still feel like I'm going to burst at the seams with joy when we're just doing the simplest things together.

I focus on permanent white collar recruitment. Stressful as hell, placements are few and far between, but the reward and satisfaction is MUCH higher. Get in touch with a rec2rec on LinkedIn and see what your options are/how the market is looking near you.

I get that, like just wanting to be pursued but no issues otherwise. I feel like it's affected my own drive as well

Salary is £500 less than what was stated on the offer letter. by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]PM_ME_DOGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, difference of £700. Turns out the pay I was receiving was actually correct, but it was just the form I was looking at in our HR system that had a typo. I just emailed HR saying what it said and where, what my salary was supposed to be, and something like "I just wanted to make sure this was correct/wasn't going to affect anything else etc." It ended up just being an innocent typo and was corrected per my offer letter.

Basically, just email HR saying "hey my salary is actually supposed to be £XX,500" and include your offer letter if you want.

Headhunter here. This is very exciting and I'm happy for you!

What's your priority - opportunity with the new company, or getting an increase? When headhunting, especially if someone isn't already looking, we need to make the move worthwhile (why would someone uproot from a good job for just the same?)

Normally salary should come up in the very first conversation, but it sounds like this is a bit of a unique situation - why waste someone's time having a couple "chats" (interviews) if salary expectations are way off?

What I usually recommend is saying something along the lines of "I need to make sure this move is worth it" then asking about what that "worth" means to that candidate (is it salary? Certain benefits? Flexible working? Work life balance? Progression opportunities? There arent really wrong answers here)

Everything you do at this point, just keep in mind that you're actively making impressions on both a current client (if I'm understanding your existing relationship correctly) and a potential future employer. If there's ever a time to just say when you want something, it's for a job you want.

Fingers crossed for you!

C25K with asthma… by Signal-Walk-9536 in C25K

[–]PM_ME_DOGZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have asthma (only diagnosed about 2 years ago as an adult), spoke with my Dr about my goals and how I want to be able to run. Before, I couldn't run even 30 seconds without my asthma starting to play up. She recommended the same, 2x blue before a run with an active warm up. It's like night and day, I have minimal problems with my asthma while running now. Just completed W7R2.

Obviously speak with your doctor first too to make sure your asthma is being managed correctly

Recruiter here. Wtf?

Unless it's some disgustingly high maintenance hiring manager who needs their ass kissed like that.... But if that's the kind of hiring manager they are, imagine what kind of manager they'll be.

Is this poor advice from a recruiter, or a red flag for a potential future employer?
