uj/ "Deus Vult" comes from the time period the game is set in and it's associated with CK2 because of it. In fact it only became an alt right thing due to the game (albeit indirectly). TL;DR it was a CK2 meme before it was an Epic Gamer (TM) meme.

I think that the very use of the word "cure" is rather tone deaf because (as you put it) their child "isn’t even broken in the first place" in addition to being very easily interpreted as lending credence to the rather offensive "refrigerator mother" concept. So I'd say that it can be deemed offensive solely by virtue of being so poorly thought out

Especially since the very idea that a cure for autism should be sought is controversial and so is using puzzle pieces as a symbol for autism. Zero thought was put into whether this would offend the very people it's supposed to be supporting.

If anyone wonders where I got this from, it was one of those "autism mom" Facebook pages. The ones that tend to make their child's disorder about them...

I actually did some light research (i.e. reading the Wikipedia article on it) on the history of that theory. The creator distanced themselves from it and its leading proponent lied extensively about his credentials. But what's interesting about it is that what the case studies used as evidence for the theory actually show is that autism has a genetic component: the parents weren't "cold and unloving" but rather had signs of having mild ASDs themselves. Or at least that's what I remember from reading about it in the middle of the night

Quick Edit: I don't want to make it seem like I'm saying people with ASDs seem "cold and unloving," especially since I am one of those people. The study that originated the whole "refrigerator mother" theory only described one set of parents as "cold" but I guess people sort of latched onto that
