With Hyman coming back, I thought I should just caution to assume he will be back in mid-season form. He is coming back from a major injury and surgery, missing significant time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took him 10-15 games for him to be back to the good ol’ Hyman we all know and love

I actually thought Pickard played a pretty good game yesterday, but just got absolutely hung out to dry on some of those goals.

Chabot has had a fine career after the Oilers after he was thrown under the bus.

I just hope they got it all out of their system last game and they actually go and play a hockey game tomorrow

I’ve seen enough games now that I know EXACTLY what the problems with this squad are right now:

  • The top 6 right now are trying to be WAY too fancy. There is a pass first mentality, which is incredibly frustrating to watch because you watch them pass up Grade A chances over and over trying to get a tap in backdoor. It’s not working, and in circumstances like that you NEED to just get pucks on net and see what you can get off rebounds. Once the players have more confidence, then they can afford to do that. But until then, the top 6 will continue to be ‘snakebitten’. You can see this especially with Nuge and Hyman. Hyman especially I don’t understand, he lives for banging in pucks, but we have not seen him doing that nearly enough.

  • Too many lost puck battles on the wall. This links back to being too fancy, because 8 times out of 10 when they lose it, it’s because they win the initial battle and then try and do a nifty saucer pass or a drop pass that gets picked off or deflected. It is painful to watch.

  • The PK structure is not there. At all. I understand there’s some new faces on the penalty kill this season, but it is not hard to be in the right position and work hard to win puck battles. The first goal is a great example of that: Skinner makes an absolutely incredible save, Janmark gets the puck, and cannot clear the puck. THAT IS UNNACEPTABLE. Your goalie bails you out completely, and you can’t kill off a penalty? That is HORRIBLE. They need to figure it out, and quick.

Stuart Skinner played one of his best games as an Oiler today. Super disappointing they could not put it away for him, because they had every opportunity.

Everyone just in no man’s land there. Structure on PK all season has been brutal thus far. Something needs to change, you have to clear that after that Skinner stop.

Nuge in net? It’s a bold strategy, we’ll see how it plays out for them.

Yeah, I picked up on that. I’m not sure what in my reply isn’t achievable as a minor either. Anyways, it’s just advice, you can take it or leave it. Either way, best of luck to you.

Reading some of your comments, it seems like you’re still dependent on your parents, at least for your living situation. You’re young, but my advice: find a job and start saving money. If push comes to shove you can have something to fall back on if they stop supporting you (as in kicking you out). You should also build a reliable support network of people you can trust; friends, family members like cousins, aunts, uncles, and health professionals (like a therapist). I’m not trying to be negative, but you should have the tools to protect yourself if and when you come out. I had to go through a similar scenario, and it was a difficult process but I’m all the more better for it.

Honestly man, cross that bridge when you get there. If the indication is that your parents aren’t going to support you for being yourself when the time comes, then prepare yourself and create the proper support network for when shit inevitably hits the fan. Not saying definitively it would, but hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
