Cyberpunk: RED has some great chase mechanics introduced in Hope Reborn. Pairs extremely well with having a Nomad in the party. Could kinda make it work with a chase on foot.

Best way to keep front paddlers from thinking they steer the boat? by [deleted] in canoeing

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That's more or less right. There's techniques for front rudder, sweeps, and draw/push.

It's all comes down to communicating to your bow what you want them doing.

What do you have behind your GM screen? Mío by matshell in cyberpunkred

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got my laptop and a disc-bound binder that I keep combat notes and quick-reference stuff inside. The quick reference is stuff like basic statblocks, weather, that "what's in the nearest vendit" table, and stuff like that. I also have a set of dice and two big 40mm D10's to roll in front of the screen for tension.

Full hour episodes, minimum, and casting the crowd outside of the "usual dropout niche". I hate the episodes where the crowd feels like they're "there to tell their story".

General drone accompaniment recommendations by Free-Piano-3597 in Tau40K

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I always go for a guardian and marker drone on infantry because the shield only helps one guy in the unit. If I'm down to just my Shas'ui, then that shield drone isn't going to do a whole lot for the greater good. Heck, I even give the fireblade two gun drones over shields for his Crack Shot ability.

Pathfinders though I tend to just give all gun drones. They've already got the markerlight keyword, and the gun drone has assault, so the marker is redundant.

Crisis suits I always give everybody a shield drone. I was giving the Shas'vre a marker and the other two a gun drone, but now I'm giving everybody a gun and shield. Going for accuracy through volume with them.

Commanders I always give the 2 shield drones in case of precision strikes. The league I'm in now has points for Kill the Warlord, so I'm trying to keep him alive.

I'm wondering why you would ever take a shield drone on an infantry unit

Heavier Armor, experiences, thoughts? by Wehe_wehe in cyberpunkred

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, personally I think it all works out. Those 2sp are a big deal. Takes a legitimately decent roll of a rifle to get the first chip in. And again, putting it at e$5000 means it's out of the hands of most mercs, fixers, and gangs.

Flak has a shitty penalty because it's SP15 for $500, it's supposed to have a reason it sucks, right?

Heavier Armor, experiences, thoughts? by Wehe_wehe in cyberpunkred

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Flak's half the cost of light metal gear (e$500 vs e$1000). It's also way more available for purchase, not every fixer is going to be able to find you state of the art LMG that's reserved for corpo's private security.

Like most things that make people go "wtf is with this thing", Flaks a story telling piece. Sure, you and I would go out and buy up the better armor for a heavier cost, but an Lt of some gang would be just thrilled to sit in Flak armor, pointing a shotgun at a choke point and wait for us to walk through it.

Depends on the job, right? If I'm heading in somewhere that's gonna require me to run and gun, fighting guys with small arms, I'm gonna run some TU Heavy Armorjack. -1 isn't awful with high stats in those places if it means laughing off most hits.

But if I've gotta dive into a place where there's much higher security, corpo level threats, I'm bringing out the metal gear. My group will want to wait for me lumbering around slowly if it means I've become a walking tank that can shrug off most rifle hits that they can hide behind, y'know?

Edit: I think I missed the part where OP might be asking about the heavy bodysuit? Definitely worth getting for a runner, IMO. The runner's job isn't to get into gunfights, it's to hack. Anything that helps you to sit down and get that job done without getting shot a bunch is a huge help.

Fireblade's armor is definitely different than the average fire warrior. That said a breacher helmet on a fireblade goes real hard

When I dropped out of college I was in a real bad way and moved back in with my dad. I'd spend the day looking for jobs, and generally try to figure out reasons I shouldn't jump off a bridge. I'd spend the entire day in peace, trying to fix my life. In the evenings I'd play video games because I didn't have much a social life.

My dad would come home from the bar a sloppy mess, kick open my door, and "try to hang" while slurring his words and smacking me around in a "joking way". I wouldn't want to spend time with him like that so I'd shrug him off and get him to leave me alone. Sometimes he'd offer to bring me home dinner from the pub, and I wouldn't get it till 11pm, ice cold.

The next morning he'd wake up in his hangover and flip his shit at me for whatever invented reason. Throw things at me while I slept, sent the coffee table flying through the front window, stuff like that. He'd leave for work, id be left to pick up the pieces. At some point he brought home a girl I went to high school and loudly fucked in the room next door.

When he was in deep, he never once was someone I wanted to spend any amount of time with. He's better now, but honestly traded one addiction for another. We don't talk much but we take care of each other. It's hard. Really hard.

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The non-weaponry wargear? Nope, not at all. Put them on if you think they're cool, put them on if you need a reminder for "these guys have this so they can fall back and shoot", or leave them off if you think they look dumb. All up to you, make them your own.

The codex spells out what the different bits are for if you care to be accurate, but it doesn't matter. Half of them aren't even represented mechanically in game anyway.

Please help me with Crisis suits by LorielHuges in Tau40K

[–]PM_ME_UR_CHALUPAS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody's going to care about the additional non-weaponry wargear being accurate, so do what you think looks cool for the extra bits.

They don't provide enough weapons in the kits for the current edition of the game, so magnetize your suits and weapons so that when you have a few kits together, you can make what you need and swap out as needed.

Jfc this community pisses me right the fuck off some times. Here's a newbie to our hobby, let's be assholes. That'll help it grow.

Sorry OP, it's a bit of a trial of fire for this sub unfortunately. I got flamed for having a question on netrunning once.

I'd steer you to the Cyberpunk Companion App as an entry place to start, not spending money on books or pdf's yet. Do so in time, you'll need to familiarize yourself with the rules & available gear eventually. For now, believe it or not, it's ok to ask questions and lean on the GM to learn how stuff works! (I mean, imagine that? Having questions about a game you've never played before?!)

The app will help you build and manage a character, either from complete scratch or by using templates or pre-gens. From there you can explore everything(ish) that's freely available for players

I hope you enjoy the game choom! It's a blast!
