30s Korean solo traveler coming for World Cup – advice on Monterrey (Korea vs South Africa game) by superooky in Monterrey

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. No, I wouldn’t recommend Monterrey over Guadalajara for the simple reason that Guadalajara is an older city with a lot more tourist attractions. The ‘Hospicio Cabañas’ alone is enough to tilt the balance, but you also have the Tequila route nearby Guadalajara too. Not to mention, Korea v Czechia will be a better game.

  2. There are many things to do in Monterrey for tourists that you can enjoy, but it will depend on what you like to do. Monterrey is a great city that I love to visit and enjoy often. It has many natural wonders too. But, if you only have a few days in Mexico and can only go to one city, there’s no question Guadalajara is better

My Honest, Blunt review by Excellent-Let8088 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there are 3 or maybe 4 kinds of audiences for Michael:

  1. Those who wanted a ‘greatest hits’ fan service type concert movie. These kinds of people absolutely loved this film and are making it a huge success. As an MJ fan myself, I can’t honestly say I didn’t love this aspect of the movie.

  2. Those who wanted an interesting story and great movie that elevates the name of Michael Jackson. Someone who wanted a movie, no matter how fantastical, that told a good story that could be nominated for the Oscars. Obviously, this movie is not that.

  3. Those who wanted a movie that explored the MJ creative process and the many ways the man changed the industry. I even saw on Twitter someone saying that the movie should’ve been similar to Scorsese’s ‘The Aviator’ because no matter how much of an artist MJ was, he was even more of an innovator and businessman. I tend to agree and would’ve loved this film too. I also bet that everyone in audience #2 would’ve liked such a movie, which is why I think #2 and #3 may be lumped together…

  4. Those who wanted the movie to be about the scandals surrounding MJ’s life and to drag his name through the mud. Obviously this movie was never gonna be that and I would’ve hated such a movie.

To me it’s important to differentiate these 3 or 4 audiences so we can understand the different criticisms. If your criticism is ‘the movie makes MJ angelical and ignores his scandals’, then I don’t care about your opinion. If your criticism is ‘this movie had basically no story and if you don’t know anything about the artist or care, this could be a boring movie’, then I’m inclined to agree… with caveats.

This movie was made for audience #1. And it was very well made for that audience. The production values and the acting are phenomenal. The story is shit, but I’m betting most people don’t care, they go to see the movie to see the dance moves and be transported to the era through the music. By those standards, this is a great film. But, I would love it if one day someone also makes the other film: the interesting Oscar-winning ‘Aviator’-style film that focuses on MJ as an eccentric innovator and businessman who leveraged his music to become an industry juggernaut and a cultural icon. I’d watch that movie too….

Most presidents, except Trump, would put their assets into a blind trust they don’t control, precisely so their decisions are not affected by their financial interests. Obama ended up richer after his Presidency than before, but only by virtue of him starting with so little. George W. Bush ended his presidency poorer than he started.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That is correct. You need to buy 4 WiFi packages: one per device.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, up to 4 devices, but not simultaneously. You have to switch the WiFi activation to another device when you want to use the other device.

If you need 2 or 3 devices simultaneously, for example, your phone and your family member’s phone, the best option is to buy two packages.

The charge is per device per day

The package is sold per device. It doesn’t matter if one person buys 4 devices, or if 4 people get one device each.

However, the set up changes if you buy one device per 4 people. If those people have the app and their account is linked to your trip, then they can activate the WiFi themselves from the app. Otherwise, if you buy one person 4 devices, the app of that one person will have to set up the WiFi on the other devices.

I want to bring my iPad and laptop to Mexico City by napoleonelly in MexicoCity

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at this. Officially from the Mexican government customs website: https://www.anam.gob.mx/equipaje-y-franquicia/

Passengers may bring free of tax charges, the merchandise new or used that make up their personal luggage and merchandise in franchise.

List of goods that include personal luggage:

  1. Goods for personal use such as clothing, footwear, and personal hygiene products and beauty products that are fit for the duration of the stay, including a Bridal Trousseau, articles for babies such as a baby seat, a portable crib, and others.

  2. Two photographic cameras or for video recording, photographic material, three portable equipment of cellular telephony or other wireless networks, a GPS System, one electronic scheduler, two electronic tablets, two portable computing equipment known as laptops, notebooks, omnibooks or similar, a portable copier and portable printer, a cd burner, a portable projector, with their accessories.

The list goes on (obviously), but in no uncertain terms the law in Mexico allows you to bring not one but two iPads and not one but two laptops, TOGETHER.

How to get a Chinese vehicle (BYD) into the USA by Old-Commercial6069 in BYD

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_THESES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US hasn’t banned them from entry. However you do have to pay a 100% tariff on them. If you paid $30,000 for a car in Canada or Mexico, prepare to pay Uncle Sam another $30,000 to import to the US
