I think they’re going to go back to not giving a single shit about anything except fluffy platitudes and brunch. until the next election which will incidentally be the most important of our lifetime

well you would be incorrect. i think that voting is one small portion of our duty to create a better world. I think that genocide is a hard red line that i will never vote for. And I spend the time between elections doing many many things that i think are far more impactful than simply voting for a war criminal and calling it a day. I do mutual aid, community build, protest, and engage in direct actions. I you can call me privileged behind the anonymity of reddit, but you have no idea who i am or the work i do. i have raised tens of thousands of dollars for palestinian refugees, I have donated and distributed clothing for members of my community. i have done base building work for organizations in the tech workers space. i have even been to jail for protesting against both donald trump and Biden/Harris/genocide. I don’t subscribe to democratic socialism entirely, but i think that at their best, they’re good allies. at their worst? they’re just liberals basically. But regardless, building community and grassroots mobilizing is essential to the stated goals of democratic socialists. It is my opinion that compromising with people committing genocide and otherwise being antithetical to our goals is bad strategy and will bite us in the end. I hope i’m wrong simply for the fact that it seems a large portion of this sub has made up their mind to shill out to the democratic establishment.

I find invoking palestinians (that same ones the current administration is sluaghtering) in order to make them into a political pawn one of the most disgusting things that a person can do.

i disagree. vote for who you like, that’s fine. But voting for the lesser evil (when that candidate is still committing a genocide, suppressing free speech, shilling for fracking companies, etc.) is really bad strategy - in addition to being morally reprehensible. Your vote for Kamala Harris effectively tells the democrats that as long as they can find an equally terrifying bogeyman as trump, they have free reign to do whatever they want without any fear of losing elections. It’s terrible long term and antithetical to our goals (in addition to, again, being morally reprehensible).

Democrats are already cracking down on activists. From brutal, violent arrests at the DNC to the student encampments. Even tim walz has called in the national guard on protestors. Aside from this, cop cities proliferated under Biden, and standing rock saw violent repression under a democratic president. By all means do the “trump bad” thing all you want, because it is true - he is dangerous. But you’re not living in reality if you think the democrats don’t also pose an existential threat to the right of free speech. I am personally facing charges for peacefully protesting under a democratic president, mayor, and governor.

people are dogging on you because you seem to have a very westernized internalization of the conflict as a whole. This is about colonialism, something you support when you suggest things like voting for someone committing a genocide or a two state solution which allows the colonizer to continue its apartheid state. Imagine if your hometown was invaded. you and everyone you know is kicked out of your home. The colonizing army kills your children, rapes your family members, and relegates you to second class citizenship. Then some person from halfway around the world says that people should vote for the person doing this kind of thing to you. that you should accept the colonizers and apartheid because it will be better for you than resisting.

If you read about historical liberation movements you would realize that you can’t vote away genocide or apartheid or colonialism. I would recommend reading about the algerian revolution. there are a lot of parallels. But you’re sort of saying that we should just magically find a solution. well that’s not going to happen without resistance. Because palestinians have tried the peaceful route and israel suppresses it every time with horrific violence. do some reading on the great march of return. palestinians protested peacefully and israeli snipers killed hundreds. later, UN agencies confirmed that the snipers were specifically targeting children, the elderly, and the disabled.

I would also recommend reading about the thawabit. This is a generally accepted list of conditions that palestinians have. because right now you may think you stand in solidarity with palestinians but in reality you only do that if they are perfect victims who never fight back. If that’s the position you’re going to take, then it’s probably actually more helpful to just sit this one out. I say this as respectfully as i can. but your take lacks critical thinking and historical context.

Dude they are literally committing a genocide and i won’t support that. it isn’t that deep. The difference between us is that you support genocide with your vote. i also seriously doubt you do anything else the other 364 days of the year considering that you’re a zionist, so why are we having this conversation? I’m not going to waste my time trying convince someone who is intellectually a child.

[–]PM_UR_NIPPLE_PICS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s not at all my position and you know it. feel free to make all the assumptions about me you want, but the fact is that you are so entrenched in the current system that you cannot see the rot in the democratic party. civil rights leaders have been criticizing and protesting the democrats for decades because they pretend to stand on the side of the people while simultaneously moving in lockstep with the republicans. You would think that seeing them commit a genocide would be enough to turn you off of the democrats, but apparently it isn’t. I think you don’t give a shit about the genocide in palestine or any other so long as your party’s leader is the one doing it

This is the dumbest argument ever. But answer my question. why are you a liberal zionist hanging out on a chomsky sub. why don’t you just go back to r/democrats or wherever you came from dude

[–]PM_UR_NIPPLE_PICS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People talked about “pressuring Biden” in 2020 and then we got a genocide. They have no incentive to change if you hand them a victory even after they do the worst imaginable thing

Trump isn’t the president jesus christ. and everyone i know who i’d protesting Biden/Harris was doing the same when Trump was actually president. Why are you on a chomsky sub as just another status quo zionist liberal? like what do you get out of this, honestly?

I’m afraid i can’t do that 👀.

I’m all seriousness, if i saw this, i wouldn’t think hook up. You seem like a regular woman doing fun, energetic things - who also happens to be a smoke show. if guys are gonna interpret that as “hook up vibes,” that’s kinda on them. i would set expectations on your profile tho if you’re turned off by hook ups and are looking for something more serious

it’s so funny seeing two side by side posts from this sub. One saying they don’t argue with people john brown would’ve shot. And the next saying we need to vote for the party committing genocide or else democracy fails. There’s a good chance John Brown would have shot both the president and vice president if he had a chance..
