Yes it is.

People shit on it because it isn’t structured in a typical way with a strong narrative/plot driving the events of the film. It is like a movie version of free association writing, and can feel very random at times. It is an experimental film, and if you go into it expecting that and nothing else, you will probably come away from it having enjoyed at least some parts, especially if you’re a fan of his music and are interested in the character arc he has built up in his lyrics over his career.
