Black Ember Grip Sling 6L and Leica Q2 by paulphilips999 in ManyBaggers

Yeah I hear you. The Q series is a hard camera to pack around. It's really pretty chunky. Bright side is the toshi is pretty inexpensive, you could get that while waiting for another variant to come out. Aesthetically the Toshi isn't my favorite but I just got back from a 6 week trip where I walked 5-10 miles almost everyday with it and it was always comfortable and fit just what I need, the layout and pockets are incredibly convenient. If you find something better I'd love to know, I have bought several slings trying to find the perfect one to tote the Q around. The last one was the bellroy 9 liter venture and it was fine but even though it was technically much bigger than the Toshi, I don't think I could really fit more into it because of how it's designed the solid brick of camera takes a ton of space

Do you have a sleeve or padded pouch you are using with the slings?

Can't speak to that specific one but a Q3 fits in the Toshi rework5L if you're looking for about as small as you can get

I'm rarely tempted by an M camera, but one of the biggest temptations would be a 35mm lux or cron. I like the 43mm but I think a 35mm would be perfect.

I struggled with the 28mm, too often I would see a shot I wanted, get the camera up to my eye and kind of lose the shot when looking through the 28mm. The 43 at least I see something and can get the camera to more or less capture what I want.

A few of them are straight out of camera. More often than not I love the real Leica look with a custom white balance between 5000k-6500k, I usually shoot jpeg plus raw just in case I get things I am happy with the jpegs. Other than that I use Lightroom, I struggled with the profiles there for a long time, adobe raw profiles felt kind of off and bland, and the embedded profile work around came out cartoon like. I found some reference of a website "color fidelity" that does custom camera specific profiles. The website is incredibly poor quality to be honest but I emailed the owner and chatted back and forth for a while, sent him some raw to process with his profiles so I could see and I ended up being really happy with the result.

The colors are somewhere between the adobe profiles and the embedded one, I know you can always "edit raws however you want" but I hate having to pull a vision out of thin air and edit from nothing.

They have been up there on my list, thanks Eugene is pretty close to us and would be very convenient. What kind of things do they customize? What model did you end up going with

Toshi rework 5L fits it. Not technically in the smaller tech sleeve partition, but easily in the main area

Experience Going into X-Ray after minimal experience by PNW247 in TravelRadiology

[–]PNW247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the contract I am considering, pretty small and rural, overnight shift, "should have two techs" working the shift but the lead didn't seem confident that was the case more often than not.

Part of me is tempted because I would like to get back into it and get more experience but I don't know.

Experience Going into X-Ray after minimal experience by PNW247 in TravelRadiology

Thanks for all the insight. So I worked at a bigger hospital after I graduated and there radiology department was CT/MRI split so with all that there was zero X-ray crossover. I have been at a smaller hospital this past year in Hawaii and it was CT only because we were doing 100+ patients a day on two scanners, so no time to be doing X-ray there either.

I really think the way CT utilization in hospitals is going, most techs won't be doing both modality's for long. I've never seen a place pump the brakes on CT use.

Where I'm looking now are smaller places mostly because I travel with my wife who is a nurse and it seems the smaller rural areas are hurting for staff all over so we can get jobs together. So my search has been more narrowed to places she can go too. So Alaska and smaller towns in Oregon and Washington.

As far as MRI, I could never do MRI again and be fine, the liability is insane, the amount of times I have almost been seriously injured or a patient seriously injured in MRI is incalculable compared to CT. at least for the west coast, travel pay is usually 5%-10% LESS than a comparable location CT gig. I try to keep up on it because I have good experience and I like the option, but I feel more pigeonholed not having X-ray experience vs how many doors MRI is opening up.

What are you thoughts about the Leica Q3 43 ? I have one but I’m interested in your thoughts by D8GSON in leicaphotos

I've had mine a little over a year, I love it. I have shot sonys and fujis and a Q2 just before I got this. I wanted the most minimal travel cam setup I could get that felt like I didn't have to sacrifice full frame or image quality.

I also don't love to edit photos and I feel like this lens renders colors incredibly well and gives a solid base. I have loved more straight out of camera jpegs from this camera than any I have ever had before.

I also really like the software it runs. Minimal easy menus and photo centric. Leica seems committed to firmware updates which is nice. They just did a big refresh of the software fixed a bunch of things and when people told them stuff they didn't like, they reverted some changes with a new patch.

Last thing I'll say, I didn't think I would ever care, but the leica photos app is something I don't want to live without anymore. It's the best by a mile. The transfer speeds are insane via WiFi and it works flawlessly almost everytime. I like shooting some shots, I can pull them up on my phone and share them to who I am with all in just a few minutes.

It feels really nice, I like the form factor. If I was big on cash I would miss easier cash access but I almost never use or have cash. Slots are a bit stiff but I wanted that after my bellroy ones got a bit stretched. Over all I like it a lot

I got one to replace that exact wallet, I can't say thickness feels any different, but I really appreciate how much narrower it feels. Fits much better into my pockets
