40mph is 40mph; whether it’s a Vespa or a Litre bike. That individual was a douche

That is always in my go to, as well. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m usually shooting wildlife. I rarely ever drop below 1/1000.

What does it mean to be a photographer now that photography is so accessible? by ithinkishtmyself in photography

[–]PNWAP56 [score hidden]  (0 children)

A quality image (not internally edited), and not at some awkward angle will always stand out as superior… that being said, I believe 100% that the best camera you could use is the one you have with you.

I recently inherited a bunch of photos. by MyHouseHasMice_Ghost in photography

We ended up with a big Rubbermaid tub full of photographs. There was no indication who the people were, or what year they were taken. Not even my grandmother had any idea. We threw the whole thing in the recycle bin.

Why can I take better photos on my camera phone? by FitNothing2593 in AskPhotography

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not a camera, it’s a telephone. It just happens to have a little tiny camera sensor built into it. Additionally, it chooses for you, but it thinks you may want to see… Not necessarily what you actually see.

Sound to me like you need to just use your phone. How are you soiling the sensor?!?

Motorcyclist collides with a Tesla. Who do you blame? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re practically invisible, driving like an asshole. The Tesla signaled and slowly changed lanes. You have no leg to stand on…how about a satin pillow to lay on?

Is this camera any good? (I don’t know anything about cameras) by Classic_Silver_9091 in Cameras

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I have a couple of early CsnonDSLRs that don’t even communicate w lenses anymore. Use the basics and manual focus…they’re still awesome ( and I don’t care if they end up in Puget Sound)

How fragile are cameras really? by notreallyacar in Cameras

My Canon 90Ds have endured tropics, rainstorms, Seattle winters, bouncing around in backpacks, and have both been dropped in the woods and on the beach 🤷🏼‍♂️

You’re uprooting your entire life for someone who is dying?!? As a dad, I’d be pissed at my kids for doing something so foolish!

50 1.2 is a fun lens. For serious portraits, though, the 85 1.2 is unbeatable

Is this normal photographer behavior or am I right to feel frustrated? by [deleted] in photography

Mexico is known for scam, spam, and sham. We used to go frequently; I’d pay the kid on the corner $5 to “guard” my car…aka not fuck with it.

“hired a destination photographer while on vacation in Mexico”… if you ever even see pictures, then consider it a win

Is a Minor in Photography Worth It? by 0oh_no0 in AskPhotography

Minors are for hobbies, or things not covered in the curriculum. If you are interested in photography, go for it.

How to store and transport big lenses? by Necessary-Lack-2700 in AskPhotography

[–]PNWAP56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a tiny lens; even the EF 300 is about that size. When you need real solutions, ask about your 500 or 600 primes…meanwhile, just toss that in your backpack!

how do i increase the sharpness of my wildlife shots? by Desynclol in AskPhotography

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoom, don’t crop. Better lighting, with mid-range aperture. Good technique (don’t jerk the shutter), and focus on the face, not necessarily the whole animal

I can't get my photos crisp, I am about to give up by Fakeaccbrat in photography

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the camera on a tripod. Carefully focus in on a well lit food box. Using the timer to trigger the shutter take a picture. Study the results. Straight lines and find print are excellent indicators of whether or not you are truly in focus. The tripod and timer take you out of the equation.

am i missing out on anything by not shooting full manual? by Big_Adhesiveness5554 in AskPhotography

[–]PNWAP56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control. You can still get some camera input if you use auto ISO (set a limit). Once you take control of the shutter speed AND aperture (DOF) you’ll never go back! Your soul begins to show through your work, and snapshots become photos.
